The main problem with your special system is, that the chipset of your mainboard is able to support AHCI while running a Windows OS, but you cannot enable this option. Furthermore you have to consider, that NVIDIA stopped the development of their nForce chipset drivers already in 2009. The MS IDE driver is much better for your system than an nForce IDE driver, which has been designed for being used in AHCI mode.
This may be caused by the ability to use the AHCI mode while running a Linux OS.
I have modded nForce drivers, because the company NVIDIA has offered a) not working drivers because of faulty INF file entries and b) drivers, which are working fine with other HardwareIDs than those, which are listed within the original INF files. Unfortunately NVIDIA has never compiled an nForce SATA driver for the NVIDIA nForce SATA Controller DEV_0550.
Did this just work??? I’ve not had chance to read through the entire thread but I’ve tried the download and it’s looking good so far.
I have an old KN9 Ultra MB in 1 off my machines. I’ve just decided to upgrade to windows 8.1… Don’t ask why! the MB uses the nvidia chipset, mcp55, nForce 570, NV gigerbit lan and it’s always ran a Raid Stripe. My first install of 8.1 worked but load times were stupidly longer than expected. Checking the event logger I could see all kinds errors nvraid event id11 multiple times in 1 boot being the main 1. Strange that the Raid still worked, loaded but times were not acceptable. I’ve spent 2 days solid and another day after sleeps messing about with this and have only just stumbled on this Forum. You guys are amazing for making these modded drivers. Thank you.
The PC has a AMD 3.2 ghz 6400+ dualcore so runs quite fast for it’s age so worth the hassle.
A few questions I have are, should I be loading the other modded drivers too, lan etc? i unticked that option but will I see improved performance there? My MB is described on abit page as 3gb/s via raid but in the manual it hints that each sata port is 3gb/s. Are the ports sata 1 or sata 2? The 2 drives in the raid are 1.5 gb/s sata 1 but I also have a sata 2 drive in this machine. Will the sata 2 drive be running at 3gb/s or just 1.5gb/s? I did try an install of 8.1 with all the raid functions turned off, just to double check that was my issue, the errors went away. My thoughts were, if the MB can see 3gb/s with out the raid on each port, using this drive should be quite similar and probably a better option.
My advice: Check it yourself. There is no need to install the complete driverpack. You can change each driver individually from within the Device Manager.
Some NVIDIA nForce LAN drivers drop the system performance enormously.
If I were you, I would do that. This way you get rid of the nForce SATA and RAID drivers. A modern Windows OS like Win8.1 or Win10 has big problems with the old NVIDIA nForce IDE drivers, which have never been optimized for being used with post-XP Operating Systems.
Off-topic:
How many and which guys do you mean? As far as I remember all modifications have been done by me.
Thanks for the drivers, been using them in Windows 7, but in 8.1 and 10 I sticked to Microsoft IDE drivers since I was afraid to install them… and my question is, would this work on Windows 10 ? I have nForce 430 MCP on ASUS M2N Motherboard
Aaand, they work flawlessly, I don’t see any errors in Event viewer and I’ve reached random read speed in one of my drives with over 70mb’s and I never experienced that with older MS generic drivers.
just installed W10 on my old htpc ACER REVO RL100, which has and ion card with nvdia nforce 520le chipset. The problem is i cant connect by ethernet at 1gb when the hardware is capable. Is there anyway to mod the inf file or whatever to force w10 to get 1gb connection? In properties it only appears combinations between 10 and 100 mbs (FD&HD) nor 1000mbs . thx a lot for the help
I suspect, that you will not be able to solve this problem. My comment: It is easy to live with this minor issue. Be happy that you were able to get Win10 properly installed onto your nForce 520 chipset system!
-What’s your take on nForce SATA Driver v11.2.20.9? You can get it here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?m=K50ID (select Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) > Chipset > 2012.05.25 Update). The archive names are: Chipset_HDD_BUG_Fix_Win7_32_Z512600171.zip (x86-32) and Chipset_HDD_BUG_Fix_Win7_64_Z512600171.zip (x86-64)
-The target of interest are the contents in Chipset_HDD_BUG_Fix_Win7_32_Z512600171\IDE\Win7\sata_ide folder (or Chipset_HDD_BUG_Fix_Win7_64_Z512600171\IDE\Win764\sata_ide for 64-bit); all other drivers/files seem even older than nForce Driver Package v15.56 or v15.58.
-My own observations: 1. The driver version is 11.2.20.9 with date stamp of 05/18/2012 (newer than 11.1.0.44 in the pack here)! 2. The nvstor32.inf/nvstor64.inf (INF file) seems to contain most nForce SATA controllers Device IDs by default (a.k.a unified driver); 3. However, it also seems this version is built upon an older driver codebase as: 3a. the copyright notice in the INF and the DLL/SYS (file Properties > Details tab) are stating “Copyright (C) 2002-2009 NVIDIA Corporation”, as opposed to “Copyright (C) 2002-2010 NVIDIA Corporation” in 11.1.0.4x drivers; 3b. with the exception of the SYS file (core/actual driver), all the DLL files are smaller in size than those from 11.1.0.4x; 4. The “EnableQueryAccessAlignment” registry entry (a DWORD with value of 0x00000001) is missing from the INF; 5. And, it also contains an event tracing MANIFEST file (nvetw.xml) - maybe for debugging - which will be installed together! 6. Lastly, it’s signed by nVidia itself, not Microsoft WHQL lab (thus our confirmation will be asked during installation)…
-As from the download page itself, it’s originally intended for Asus K50ID notebook, which has nVidia MCP79D chipset (as often, no changelog too). But I installed it on an Acer Aspire 4530 (that has MCP77MH with GeForce 9100M G) with Windows 7 32-bit (in AHCI mode, of course) and have no issues so far.
@ Musafir_86: Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for the interesting contribution with the link to the latest NVIDIA nForce chipset driverpack, which is offered by ASUS!
Yes, the included 32/64bit nForce SATA_IDE drivers v11.2.20.9 dated 05/18/2012 are really new for me. Unfortunately all other drivers (unclusive the SATARAID ones) are old and already wellknown.
Yes, even nForce3 250 and nForce4 chipsets are natively supported by them. It is a pity, that the matching nForce RAID drivers are missing. Nevertheless the new nForce SATA drivers may be interesting not only for nForce AHCI users, but for nForce RAID users with an nForce3 or nForce4 chipset as well.
As soon as I will have the required time, I will try to create some updated nForce Driverpacks, which will contain the "brandnew" nForce SATA driver v11.2.20.9. Thank you very much for your input!
@ Musafir_86 and other users with a NVIDIA nForce Chipset:
Meanwhile I have prepared some new mod+signed 32/64bit NVIDIA nForce Chipset driverpacks for Win7/8/10. Since I don’t have an nForce chipset system anymore, I need users, who are willing to test them. If you are interested, please send me a PM (don’t forget to tell me the nForce chipset, the SATA mode of your system and the OS you are running).
Although the promised "new" mod+signed nForce driverpacks for Win7-10 are meanwhile composed and uploaded, I decided to wait with the publication until I got the confirmation from nForce users, that they work as they should. That is why I have removed the already existing links to these driverpacks from the start post of this thread. If there should be no interest in these driverpacks, I will stop my work on them.
So it is up to you, whether the start post of this thread will be updated or not. Interested nForce users should send me a PM and tell me, which driverpack they want to test. Then they will get the related link.
Until now I haven’t seen any feedback from the users, who received via PM the requested download link to one of my new NVIDIA nForce Driverpacks for Win7-10. That is the simple reason why the start post of this thread is still “under construction” and the direct download links to my modded nForce driverpacks are missing.
Note: I need the test reports, because I don’t have an nForce chipset system myself. If there should be no interest in these driverpacks, please let me know it.
