Are you sure, that you had enabled the option to boot off an USB Device within the BIOS (look at my last screenshot)?
If you can not even boot off the USB Flash Drive, there seems to be something wrong either with the BIOS settings or with the USB Flash Drive.
Did you disable the "Secure Boot" option within the BIOS, before you tried to boot of the USB device?
yes, if formatted with GPT UEFi settings, leaving secure boot enabled and not booting, comes out of black boot error | BCD
if disabled secure boot, always with GPT UEFI formatting settings, does not start and stops at a flashing dash at the top left
