I’ve updated both orom lan/sata (efi/legacy) and cpu microcodes to the latest version.
Sylar76 Tell me please both original vs mod who is better?
They are almost the same except of orom and microcodes updated, thus I prefer the modded one.
Thanks!but cpu microcodes give more power for cpu?
any new for cpu microcodes?
I doubt anyone will answer you, especially that really daft question you put before, I facepalmed at it.
Use google, save embarrassing yourself.
I think bios update coming soon for Asus Rampage V X99
Hey guys I was looking into modding my bios as well, out of curiosity what do you guys have showing up as the driver in IDE / ATA/Atapi controllers in device manager. I was trying a mod and now it shows up as intel 9 series and that doesnt sound right… Trying to figure out the right driver to install there.
Dear Sylar76, would you mind updating the bios of ASUS Rampage V Extreme 2101 for Haswell-e processors with the latest microcode (0x3B I think, which is supposed to fix recent security flaws) and other option roms if possible?
Thank you.

Do not mind my request, the microcode was pulled-out from Intel website, it seems the "20180108 Release" microcode was not stable.
Now waiting for new stable microcode from intel.
Dear Sylar76, would you mind updating the bios 3801 for the ASUS Rampage V Extreme with the updated CPU microcodes, OROM modules and MEI Firmware?

Rampage V Extreme Modded Bios(3801) with 20180312 Microcodes; Use Bios Flashback for Update

Lucifer this bios i install but have problems windows tabs open very slow!!!
Haswell-E cpu microcodes 3B and 3C make system very slow and I don’t know why. It seems that Intel has messed up various things, as with 3A microcodes everything is really faster than newer microcodes.
For this reason I don’t want to mod or share any modded bios until Intel will fix this exasperating slowness.
Well I have some issues myself too, My previously stable overclock now needs additional 0.05v for the vcore to remain stable with these new microcodes!
Let’s face it, there is no perfect software solution for the spectre, so of course there will be pitfalls. you know the problem is in the branch prediction mechanism, one of the most important aspects of code optimizations which so many software optimizations has been implemented over the years in codes and compilers to utilize it or avoid it. the fix needs hardware redesign and come up with new ways to speed up code and yes deploy it in the compilers, so the reason whole industry is in mess right now and i believe it will be for quite some time.
well you can always disable these not so perfect solutions through windows of course which i strongly advise against it, the danger is real, take a look at github samples and see the vulnerabilities in action for yourself.
I’m happy i didn’t sold my kidney for 7980xe
