[OFFER] Gigabyte GA-AX370-Aorus Gaming 5 BIOS mod

I can modify it to work for the Gaming 5 and bring the K7 "exclusive" options to the Gaming 5. Won’t be able to do it for a few days though. Nice timings on the RAM kit, at that frequency you’ll see some nice performance improvments in software that is sensitive to memory speed and latency.

Something might be wrong with your ISO image I used the restore feature on build 1709 and it appeared to work fine. A good chunk of the AGESA options you can find decent explanations for with google but there are some that nobody has a clue about. AMD really should release a whitepaper with explanations for all the options but who knows if they will or not. I would say you could email Gigabyte and ask what the options do you aren’t sure about but I think we all know how that will probably go. If I can find some time I will create a document myself detailing how each AGESA option is supposed to work but I’m not even sure on what all of the options are meant to do.

Go for it ket, im looking forward to that bios!

the rams running at 13,13,13,12,26, 1T and you are right, its making a very noticeable difference to video rendering software using openCL everythings running very fluid.

in fact just playing with the ram timing has given an extra 2 gflops! 165 Gflops on a stock air cooler aint too shabby at all, im impressed with ryzen.

yep, asking gigabyte for anything is like asking for gold! they all need a kick up the arse thats for sure.

as for the backup and restore functionality of windows, i never trust it, its too finicky, specailly with nvme drives, not to be trusted, but aomei backupper is raw man, it restores a 20gb windows backup in 3 minutes.

Anyway, heres a few pics of my machine, remember this at the moment is fully on air! im REALLY impressed with this i tell ya, flies through anything you throw at it, way faster than my 7800x for video rendering the difference is night and day, the intel stutters all over the place. after christmas will be watercooling it with 2 separate loops one for gfx and one for cpu, both loops have their own 360 rad mounted ready with 3 corsair sp120 rgb fans. (either side) at full load still stays 13c under tjmax (which is 95c) on the ryzen 7

165Gflops on the standard air cooler is very impressive! 5 more than my 7800x can manage also windows just feels more smooth all around, remember also the intel cpu is £100 more expensive! so are their motherboards, intel really need to get a grip or its game over for their consumer cpu’s. their last few platforms have made no sense whatsoever to the end user. damn im not even on water yet, when i am after xmas i doubt very much ill have issues hitting 4.1ghz on this cpu, seems like a good one.

gamings no slouch either easily matching or beating the 7700k in multi threaded gaming, games that only use 4 cores the 7700k is a bit faster but thats about it, heavily threaded tasks like live streaming the ryzen 7 destroys it, smooth as silk. ignore the 1500mhz ram speed in the pic, its now at 3350 at 13,12,12,12,24 1T im current working on that custom aida64 screen to add water temps etc…

Will you Release BIOS for The K5 ?

Greetings

I will release another round of modified firmware yes, after this round development will cease for some boards though as I’m just not seeing people coming forward saying they have those particular boards which namely the ones I’ll be ceasing development for unless people start coming forward are the X370 Gaming, X370 Gaming K3, and the B350 Gaming. I might on the odd occasion still release something for those boards though.

Taste the new F10 mod and back to F9c. The memo dont work at 3200, in xmp or manual timings. Can’t save changes in OC cpu, i try to up 39.50, the loop two times and take the bckp bios… a disaster. I try updating from f9c first time, the second time from f10 original and optimice settings. Is the same when touch the cpu ratio loop two times and cgange bios from the bck bios f9c. Now i’ll try f10 original, but not hope nothing…

I download the F9f and the zip contains F9c.rom archive. If flash it appears F9c… It’s correctly? I missing something?

Derp no thats my bad looks like the wrong image got put in that archive somehow I’ll fix it in a bit. Also try swapping the DIMM banks your memory is in I had to do that with some firmware revisions.

Fixed Gaming 5 archive on the first page containing the wrong firmware image

I’ve finished the next round of modded firmware but I need someone with a Gaming 5 to do some testing for me to make sure everything that is meant to show up is showing up. Basically this will mean screenshotting every page (USB stick and F12 key) then zipping up the screens so I can reference them with the firmware and correct any issues there might be. So, who wants to do some testing?

I would like to help. I am owner of Gigabyte gaming 5.
Please give me instructions.
Apologize for my bad English.

You have PM

I can help with that, Ive got a gaming 5. Ive been using your modded K7 bios on it more or less since I got it.

Ok, this isn’t specific to anything being done here but it has been a royal pain in my arse for the last 2 hours or so. This is how to install .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 10 build 1709.

1. Insert the install media with your Windows 10 files on or double click the ISO image
2. Open and run Command Prompt as an administrator
3. Copy and paste this (replacing E: with whatever the drive letter is for where your windows install media is); DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:E:\sources\sxs
4. When the process completes go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > tick the boxes for .NET Framework 3.5

Windows will now install the .NET framework.

As a final check you might also want to run Command Prompt as administrator and type SFC /SCANNOW, let the check complete and any corrupted files there might be should be repaired.

Ive had the same problem recently its a pita. Found a handy program on Sourceforge.net called .net-3.5-offline-installer that makes a lot simpler, but then what isn`t when you know the solution. You still need your installation media USB or disk.

Thanks that not installing .NET 3.5 on 1709 is somewhat of an obscure problem that has numerous error codes associated with it. The more practical solutions that people find for it the better as Microsofts "Solution" generally is to completely reinstall Windows

Thanks again ket. I testing the F9f and feel fine, i’ll try to OC the cpu… with f9cmod i up to 41.00 (1700 non X) to 1.44 vol and ram at 3200 1.35 vol and 65° c. Not for 24/7 of course…

The gaming 5 dont like job with de f10 in main bios and the f9f in the bios bck. Usually boot loop with f9 error, then if reset bios, the main and bck bios start with the f10 bios version, the f9 is deleted. Its curious that one time, start post with a random of rgb lights, i usually take off, and come to sound a melody with the beeps of the motherboard…

I’m pretty sure the Gaming 5 tries to automatically flash the inactive ROM chip if the active chip has a newer firmware on. You can change the position of one of the jumpers for the ROM chips so only one ROM chip is active at any given time. Should help stop some weirdness at least.

Yes, i think the same. I’ll try it…

Use msmg toolkit and integrate net framework 3.5 into the windows iso, and while you are there strip ALL the crapware out of windows including internet explorer and edge.

Any news on if there’s going to be a modded BIOS for the Gaming K5?

Yes I have a modded version ready just making sure any kinks are ironed out.
