yeah … i updatet your file with q-flash … looked if the pc starts … then i restartet - startet q-flash again and choosed the f22b
"downloaded before from the gigabyte homepage"
and look … it goes … awesome … cant say enough thanks =)))
Updated first post with conversion pack for HYRICAN OEM Gaming 5 to convert to retail Gaming 5.
So nice man … im still happy <3
Thanks again
No prob
Just been reading how the r7 1700 destroys the 7700k in games now asrock have improved the bios code, intel owners are not amused as they have even more performance drops with their cpus being affected by 2 separate vulnerabilities, where as amd are hardly affected at all. intel have been working on bios code for over 4 years and theyre still not as good. got to hand it to amd theyve done an outstanding job with this cpu.
As people are asking heres whats going on, the latest AGESA is 1.1.0.1, one or two manufacturers have released firmware based on this AGESA version but Gigabyte have not. Once Gigabyte release firmware based on AGESA 1.1.0.1 this is when I will make modified firmware. If you want to see that firmware sooner rather than later send support tickets to Gigabyte asking about it.
Hello. I have a problem with my gaming 5. I installed a few weeks ago your f10v2 bios, and now i want to install the original f22b from gigabyte, but when i boot the system with this bios, my AHCI/RAID disks doesn´t work , only works if i downgrade to your f10.
How can i install the original bios without this problem, please ?
Thank you.
F22b bios is so bad (at least for K7), on F10 I had everything stable but after upgrading to F22b and wasting a week or more I can’t come up with any working settings at all.
@tom_rus Possibly something to do with memory compatibility being completely reworked. Try switching DIMM banks and / or changing CAD bus drive strength options to 60ohms or Auto.
I’ll be dropping a modified F22b for the Gaming 5 in the near future folks. Taking a while to do this one as its going to be the -D flavour this time around so expect many detailed descriptions (particularly for memory options) and some options to be properly named (eg; “Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter” instead of just “UART”) on top of all of the usual changes. Flavours for other boards will follow but will only be the standard variety.
I’m also looking at the possibility of overhauling the UI I already have the UI aspects used in the firmware but not totally sure how to inject them back in to the firmware properly so if anyone can help with that let me know. @TOM_RUS would you happen to know how to do this?
Good news… thanks @ket.
Yesterday i get a softbrick for the firts time. The board need 7 hours to restore the bios without energy. But today boot normally. All with f22b ver.
Continue trying stable 3200 with 16 18 18 18 38 74. Past ibx in normal 10 times, cinebech ok, 3dmark ok, but the games crash. I try back to f9c, but something change in win 10 or chipset drivers 18.10, have the same issue, i lost the 3200 in memos. With 3060 14 16 16 18 run ok for hours. And the pstates work fine.
I’ll wait your mod…

Pd: bad news, my mobo is death, softbrick again. After two hours, the mobo boot, but in win its crash. And start again. Dont boot… i unmount the rl and go to the box. Tomorrow i try to change for a taichi or ch6 with my leader, “hasta los guevos de gigabyte gaming 5” like sai here… if retourn to me a new mobo i’ll try to sale in second hand.
@Khaela if you haven’t already flip the dip switch so only one ROM chip is active. I’ve not had any problems at all since doing that.
Yes, i try it. I cant enter in to the UEFI. In the main or bck bios, alone or dual. Now is in the technical service. I hope that not be the cpu damage… Nothing to do, i lost my patience. I buy the last week the ekwb block specific for the mobo. I’ll try to return or buy… i come to hate gigabyte mobos, before 3 or 4 mobos across the last 10 years. They must to change the team and politic of sales. And my graphic card is the aorus 1080 ti wb… puuuff. I dont know to do…
Thought you were going to wait for Gigabyte to base their UEFI on AGESA 1.1.0.1? What made you change your mind?
Regardless, it’s great to read you’re still doing custom Gigabyte AM4 BIOSes!
Question, though. You state you’re doing an enhanced Gaming 5 BIOS, with modified features above and beyond the others. Would it be too much extra work to do one for the Gaming K7? Since they’re essentially the same board (with the 5 only missing the BCLK chip). I mean, couldn’t a K7 BIOS be used as the starting point for modding, and just disable the BCLK functions to turn it into a 5 BIOS? Like you did before? (At least, that’s my understanding of how Gigabyte does it. That they use pretty much the same BIOS for all their boards, and just disable features as you move down the AM4 product stack.)
I was going to wait then I figured I might as well use the time to do some testing and refining thats pretty much the only reason why a modded F22b will exist for the Gaming 5. Main reason for the testing is that I’m working on a better UI design but I need to inject and test if it’s going to work in practice as it should in theory. Making a K7 version of what I’m doing for the Gaming 5 wouldn’t require as much work to do as most of the legwork I’ve done now but I have to transfer each change by hand one at a time in to each firmware image so it ends up taking quite a bit of time just for one image let alone doing it for every modified firmware image.
So it’s not as simple as I’d hoped. Well, I’ll just have to cross my fingers and pray you eventually make an enhanced K7 BIOS as well.
Have you seen the leaked AMD slides for the Ryzen 2000 series yet? One of the slides mentions that all board vendors, including Gigabyte, will be releasing new “optimized” BIOSes some time in March to fully support the new Pinnacle Ridge CPUs.
People are accusing these slides of being fake. But it seems AMD has decided that, since the cat’s out of the bag, they may as well take advantage of the news and post about it themselves.

I am trying my best to warn people about this piece of shit motherboard bricking itself because of resistor faults on the 5v stages but no ones listening, switching to single or dual bios modes makes no difference it will still happen, and getting a Taichi will be the best thing you ever did, its the number1 x370 board.
Updated X370 Gaming 5 UEFI to F22bM-D

Theres a lot to not be happy about with the Gaming 5 but my test board has never bricked itself outside of one instance that I still put down to bad AGESA code released by AMD as some firmware for the GT7 using the same AGESA code also bricked itself.
4.35GHz boost for the 2700X seems on the high side to me, not saying its not possible but it is a very large jump. Most people hit around 3.9GHz on a 1700/X at reasonable volts so thats already a 450MHz improvement plus overclocking which lets say can perhaps take the chip to 4.6GHz at reasonable volts so you are looking at a rough ballpark total increase of 700MHz which is an awful lot of frequency improvement plus the rumored +17% IPC increase for just a refrest product. I’d say it’s more realistic to expect 4.3GHz - 4.4GHz including OC and +12% IPC improvement.
Firmware updates will happen for pretty much all X370 and B350 boards but as usual with Gigabyte you’ll be better off pestering them about the new AGESA update when AMD officially confirm it to make sure Gigabtre actually release an update.
Hi,
My cpu was killed by the mobo, i think. The leader sent the new gaming for replacing but dont boot. I send again the mobo, cpu and memo. Another week without pc…
And @POE_UK , i buy the gaming 5 in march of the last year, if i know then… I owned more than 5 mobos by gigabyte and never was shit like this.
