[OFFER] Gigabyte GA-AX370-Aorus Gaming 5 BIOS mod

Its dead jim, code54 is what i had the board is toast

Yeah thatā€™s what i figured - fuck gigabyte motherboards lol

My 1080Ti from gigabyte is also questionable, might be RMAing that at the same time.

Fucking awful arent they, asrock are now making graphics cards btw and ive heard real good things about them. this will be my next gfx card https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMDā€¦ex.asp#Download

I wonā€™t be getting an ASRock unfortunately, as theyā€™re out of stock everywhere in my city and I canā€™t wait for amazon/newegg to ship me a new moboā€¦ downtime is the worst!

Iā€™m able to pick up a Crosshair VI tomorrow though, so at least Iā€™ll have one of the two mobos that are universally considered the "best"! (taichi and crosshair)

RE: the GPU, 580 is a pretty sweet card if youā€™re playing at 1080p. Above that it starts to lag behind a bit.
I tried one before i ended up getting the 1080ti, and the FPS on my 1440p monitor didnā€™t satisfy.

ASRock are pretty sweet though, personally I hope that XFX gets into the motherboard game so thereā€™s more competition!

Mate anythings better than gigabyte, never known any other board as bad as them. im not a gamer so a 1080ti will be overkill for me only got about 5 games installed

worst thing is the only reason i even got the gigabyte is that availability of x370 boards was SO BAD when they 1st came out it was the only premium one that was expected in stock within like 2 weeks of my upgrade.

And yea if youā€™re not looking for 144+ FPS or ULTRA settings the 580 is a beast dude.

Enjoy!

Donā€™t speak so soon Iā€™m (or was) modding a firmware gor the GT7 based on AGESA 1002a, system felt a bit off so I did an AIDA64 bench, Biostar nerfed something bad in the latest update just look at these results :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats just the thing though, people should not have to install modded uefi bioses they should just work! but in all fairness, that issue on the biostar board is nothing compared to the myriad of issues gigabyte have, at least it can be reversed, but manufacturers do warn about bios flashing, but theres no way around it on the gigabytes

this is what im getting with vengeance rgb ram at 3400MHz and 3.6GHz cpu, the latency with memtest is 57ns

Just found a weird looking header on my taichi, in the manual its labelled as "This header is used for connecting the USB connector on the AMD SR3 Heatsink" whats that all about is it another usb port or something? (next to where the led plugs into the led amd cooler) also theres another DIP Pinout socket right next to the primary pcie socket, anyone know what the hell these are?

well after i restart my PC 2 times bios load normal again and i doing plug/unplug my usb keyboard it work again

Biostar you need to watch, their firmware isnā€™t bad but it does miss options that should really be there but they are minor fortunately for the most part. You also need to be very aware that Biostar quietly update their firmware then release it under the same version so unless you have tools to poke around the image a bit youā€™ll likely never know. Pretty stupid they do that but it is what it is. Updating the firmware should never be a problem the only problem is increasingly sloppy firmware development from manufacturers. Asrock are extremely good, Asus are OK but theres countless stories on them releasing firmware that bricks boards, MSI have nice firmware but memory overclocking for them is a huge problem, Gigabyteā€¦ canā€™t even tell the difference between their thumb and their arsehole, Biostar are fairly good but their firmware needs refinement and working on memory compatibility for overclocking certainly wouldnā€™t hurt. Itā€™s not bad, itā€™s just not that good either. If I had to break down each company in a few words it would be something like this;

Asrock - Excellent build quality, firmware, and support. Prices are starting to creep up with them though but you do get something thats worth it.
Asus - OK build quality, firmware can brick boards if its something they rushed out but you get to learn which ones to avoid. Overpriced for what you get.
MSI - Good but their board designs leave a lot to be desired particularly in component choice. Memory overclocking is a big pain with their boards.
Biostar - Good but slow with updates and good god does their firmware need a UI overhaul. Could do with a few more OC and general options as well.
Gigabyte - Lets just not go here, and thats being as diplomatic as I can be if their firmware was perfect they would still only be middle of the pack - at best.

This is very true with asus, they have very poor bioses on most of their boards, @hereic do you know if i can get a waterblock for an rx580 8gb?

One things for sure i wont be getting a ryzen2 cpu i really cannot see the point

well just took the front panel of my case and that extra pinout header right next to the CPU led header is indeed an extra USB2.0 port, how cool is that, i can fit a permanent secure earse lixux distro in that slot now with an adaptor. what i normally do every 2 months is secure erase my m.2 drive to keep it fresh then reimage from a backup

Hi
I have gigabyte ax370 gaming 5 bios F23d
I can not find the item "Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar"
It should be in the section, Precision Boost Overdrive.
I do not see it
Thank you for your help

Precision Boost Overdrive is an option for Zen+ CPUs so I assume you have one of the refresh CPUs AMD have released. This option is not in the F23d firmware at all, stock or modded. Iā€™d suggest you try Ryzen Master you might find what you want there otherwise youā€™ll simply have to wait for a newer firmware.

yes I have zen +
Precision Boost Overdrive is present
This voice is not in the "precision bost overdrive scalar" bios (on other motherboards it is present)
I can not find this option on ryzen master
patience I wait for next release

Thanks for the reply

Ket if you get 5 mins spare could you do me a favour mate as i havent a bloody clue what im doing, could you change the TAICHi v4.40 biosā€™s boot logo to the picture i uploaded here, i dont want to mess my board up see, thank you man.

Any way to get all these options on Gigabyte Gaming K7?

Are they already present with the modded version you shared? I really miss some options as I recently moved from F7b to F23d and now I canā€™t run my RAM with GearDown on 3200 MHz and higher. There are also no BankGroupSwap settings. Can I find them somewhere and why it doesnā€™t work anymore with GearDown? Any ideas?

Got the same problem with >= F10~F23d no geardown else its beep beep beep and thats it
Ive got settled with the idea that i dont upgrade so my 1700 runs fine under F7b , and will try in time a bios upgrade but lost faith in the fact
that GB can (not even try) to fix their shitty 5th grade grap , so for the rest its working but never again GB thats just a waste

@POE_UK I completely agreeā€¦ Hereā€™s what iā€™ve been able to get with my G.Skill FlareX 3200 OCā€™d at 3400MHz + Ryzen R5 1600 at stock 3.40GHz & OCā€™d at 3.60GHzā€¦

Hi, iā€™ve a Gigabyte AX370 Gaming 5 with the new Ryzen 2700X.
The mobo support the new Precision Boost Overdrive but not completely.

Is it possible to enable the second option from this screenshot? The Precision Boost Overdrive Scalar
