[Problem] Adding CFL Support on ASUS Z170

Hello everyone,

first of all I would like to thank the ones behind the articles that helped getting support on older motherboards/chipsets.
While I haven’t read everything just yet, I got some questions.

I have an Asus Maximus VIII Impact that I want to add support for CFL cpus.
I read that in some cases you need to first install official bios with latest ME firmware and then the modded version. Is that true?
Also, I used the automated tool and got the 2 .BIN files. Is there a way to convert them to .ROM/.CAP in order to get them flashed?

Unfortunately, I don’t have an SPI Programmer to try this method.

Thanks in advance for the help!

@FireKillerGR .bin file is same as .rom rename as you see fit. None of those are .cap (encapsulated), so you cannot rename to cap unless it was mistakenly renamed to .rom or .bin by some tool, open file in UEFITool, if you see capsule at top then it’s a .cap file, if not then it’s bin/rom

You do not want latest Intel ME, only certain older ME versions work with the mod you want, so you will need to do some research, so that advice/method about flashing latest first is incorrect

Rest I cannot answer, best to ask in the related threads for proper answers.
