[Problem] Alienware 15 R3 BIOS died after enabling TPM

Hy guys, ive got a issue with my alienware 15 R3, and you guys are problably my last shot.
My laptop died after i enabled “TPM” in the bios. i saved and rebooted, and it was dead. the only thing it did was flash 2-1 (cpu failure). this seems impossible to me, considering the circumstances.
So i went and grabbed my CH341A, and flashed every bios i could find for this model laptop. none worked, all cpu failure error. i found 1 that turns the lights on, reboots 3 times, and flashes display failure, together with a annoying beep. with this bios firmware, the cpu heated up, so there is life. sadly, im now out of bioses. I see the same issue (cpu failure after bios issue) appear on this forum quite a lot. but all bios links or expired or didnt work. I tried to repair my bios .bin file myself, but thats just not gonna work :p.
Ive included my original bios firmware and the one with the display failure (if its any help) down below. I would be beyond grateful. It was a solid laptop and i spend countless hours reading and trying to fix it ! :frowning:

Those machines tend to never come back to life. But anyway, you may want to try this one:

stock_bios_clean.zip (4.6 MB)

Clean ME, Stock bios region 1.13 (and your old firmware had static bios region volumes 100% identical to stock but another EC firmware in first padding than stock??)

Hy, thank you for your help!

I just flashed your .bin file. It booted, restarted twice (no cmos, so does it always) and then flashed cpu error once. After that, it rebooted and flashed 2-7 (display failure) and also beeped the display failure error.
I know the display works, so it’s a weird error. Also, no HDMI output
Anything else I can try?

Thank you in advance

Parts of bios appear working. even holding the logo 30s makes it try to auto repair bios (but no luck). It seems bios is ok, it tries to boot, cpu gets warm (was cold like a stone with old bios firmware).
Can UT2 block screen from working? i reflashed and verify it, but no luck…

Also, there are 2 chips next to GPU, UT13 and UT15. I used 1.8v adaptor and wiped+reflashed in past. do these need to be specific matched to my bios or specific gpu chip? Display failure would be explained by this (but why no integrated graphics??), also, without ram, it dont give no ram error. very weird.

Perhaps it is bricked beyond repair, but such shame, good laptop, mobo worked before stupid bios change (how can tpm do this…)
Stupid mobo is very expensive… not worth changing…

Does it help if i upload gpu chip and UT2 (i think thunderbolt chip) .bin files?

thanks!!

And that’s the reason- you fiddled with / touched everything without knowing about it’s function. Now it’s impossible to diagnose even if one would have it on the workbench.

i only fiddled with GPU chips after i tried the bios firmwares i found online. all gave cpu failure error. i was misled by a forum post that (incorrectly) said UT13 was for CPU (ofcourse i went to that chip, considering cpu error) after reading more, i now know both chips are for gpu (why? 2 identical chips, FW almost 1:1 identical). I just ask here to be sure… but i already compared the .bin of it, and there were no differences, so i doubt me flashing it did anything. Same story UT2, was just to confirm i get no hdmi out…

I read every forum i could find 10 times by now. many have cpu failure error after bios.
Also 1 guy had same issue as me, 1:1 behavior. 3 times reboot, then beep and flash display failure… Everything points to bios. Dude on forum actually got it fixed, but the link to bios file expired and dude offline for years now. Hence me asking here and hoping

Not for me. Good luck, maybe you’re lucky and someone else has a bright idea…
