[Problem] Mod bios Fujitsu D3460-D2x

Hi,

I’ve successfully modded a Fujitsu D3460-D2x board (H110 chipset, LGA1151) to run a Xeon E3-1240 v5 which is not on the original CPU whitelist. The mod was done using CoffeeTime on BIOS R1.10.0 (SKU hack, FD Unlock, BIOS Lock OFF, ME kept Enabled). Flashed via CH341A.

Both Windows 10 and Windows 11 installation crashed first time at approximately 30% . After this on every reboot shows a different BSOD code — IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, etc.

Hardware:

  • Board: Fujitsu D3460-D2x
  • CPU: Xeon E3-1240 v5
  • GPU: GT630 (PCIe)
  • Storage: SATA SSD
  • BIOS: R1.10.0 modded with CoffeeTime

Linux boots and runs perfectly stable — no issues whatsoever. Also before Xeon installation i had I5 6400 on socket and even after flashing it works fine, the problem occurs when i put Xeon in the socket.

I wanted to attach the BIOS bin file but due the new account i can’t

Thanks in advance, please help me

@s00senka you can upload it on external service such as mega, gdrive, transfer.it, etc., and give the link here.

Also, do you happen to know where to view your motherboard support page? I seem to cant find for your board..

Hello @Koekieezz thank you for yours answer!

Here it’s the URL for download Transfer.it

To find original BIOS image it’s kinda tricky, you have to go to this website https://publicdownload.dieboldnixdorf.com/objects/100022 and choose from search bar this combination, after this you will see the R1.10.0 version BIOS. This device was originally designed as a POS, but I want to get everything I can out of it.

Thank you for your help

Do you still have the original bios dump?

could you also post it along with the modded bios of yours?

Hello @s00senka , sorry for the long reply, here you can test this: s00senka_bios.rar (3.6 MB)

This is based on your OG_Dump.bin, i suspect that due to it uses a Corporate ME cut/trimmed version, with it still enabled, it causes that issue on your board. The one i gave uses Corporate ME cut + HAP Bit set to Disabled, after i cleaned the ME Region. Try to use the i5 6500, flash the bios, and boot up normally, if it boots up, try your xeon.

I don’t know man what you do but it’s working like a charm, it’s even prettier because shows me info about serial numbers in UEFI. Windows 11 booted after 6 BSODs which is great, that what i meant. Pure skill. Thank you again

@s00senka Pretty much i just Disabled the ME Firmware (which others said/in other word, “HAP Bit set”), oh but also i used ME 11.8.97.4739 corporate cut version (from 11.8.97.4739 RGN found in this forum, cut down using @dsanke’s me_cleaner fork based on the instruction here), so it’s good to hear that it boots on your side. You can dump your bios after the bios i gave was flashed, and open it in Coffeetime, you’ll see what version of the ME FW it is.

As an additional info, i added Coffeelake and Coffeelake Refresh CPU (and Adjusted the FIT Table), so i guess you can use Normal Retail/Xeon CFL/CFL-R CPUs, or Mutant CPUs such as QTJ1, QTJ2, etc. (since ME FW is disabled, CFL/CFL-R Xeons/Mutant BGA 1440 cpus is doable). I Also inserted RebarUefi and NvStrapsRebar for resizable bar purpose, if you ever plan to use it, you can try to enable Above 4G Decoding in the bios, then refer to this post on how to enable rebar function.

BTW, did you flash it using CH341A/Similiar Programmer, or software like Intel FPT/Flashrom?

Great, that’s good to know, i will check this with CoffeeTime also.

I have CH341A programmer
