Hello to everyone,
I’m new to the Bios modding realm.
I need help to mod a bios I got from Lenovo website (system data, UUID, serial, etc).
I’ve made a dump from my original bios.
Problem :
I have a Lenovo Slim 5 14aph8 (but a rtx 4070 which is a very rare model).
I have a black screen when I boot up (I haven’t use the pc for 6 months). Everything works except the screen. I believe a windows update caused this.
I can use it when it’s plugged with a external monitor in HDMI. I have access to the bios, windows…
First attempt to fix it = I unplugged the battery and the CMOS battery, I plugged the pc to DC and pushed the power button for 60 sec. Replugged everything BUT nothing worked.
So I came to suspect the a bios corruption.
Since I have a very specific model of laptop, I’ve been told by the seller to never update the bios. My bios is MACN11WW.
So I decided to buy a SPI progammer + 1.8V adapter to get a dump of the bios (which I have now) and try to force a stable bios from Lenovo website MACN24WW.
I used Neoprogrammer to read my bios chip (Winbond W25R256jw 1.8v) but this chip is not listed in the spi list. After some researches, I found out I could read it using W25Q256JW 1.8v too.
I did a dump.
I trimed MACN24WW with Hex Workshop to make it the same size as my original dump. I flashed MACN24WW. The pc starts, keyboard backlights turn on but that’s it. Can’t boot to windows.
So I read my current bios with Neoprogrammer, it was mostly empty, mostly it was full of FF FF FF …
I read later on that I needed to use UEFItool to copy some parts of my dump into the new bios. It’s been a week I’m trying to comprehend/learn how to get system data, UUID, serial, etc but I’m stalling.
So I’m wondering if someone could help me.
I can provide to download : the Original bios dump / the new bios that need to be updated.
Can someone help me please ??

Nota Bene :
The lastest bios for this pc on Lenovo website is MACN33WW. But after reading a lot, seems like any bios after MACN24WW gives issues. So I decided to stick with MACN24WW which is the most stable for this pc.
Nota Bene 2 :
I’ve just noticed in the bios menu one thing=
Bios version : MACN11WW
EC Version : MAEC24WW
I’m wondering if the problem could come from there ?
Thanks in advance
…a mess.
Sir… not losing my time with this as it’s too much of it…, i do recomend the fowlling
Get a visual ID of the MB PCB model, search for a user full system dump (All ICs Bios+EC/ME) and program them all.
That “trimed” exe with HEX… size? The structure is of no relevance for you?
Downgrades with mixed EC… no sir, thats your head to burn…
Thanks for answering
NB: I didn’t do any Bios update, seems like something happened During Windows Update and I ended up with a black screen. Before windows update, everything worked fine.
Wait, the EC/ME are not in the same dump I’ve done from W25r256jw chip ?
There’s another chip, smaller on the board, Winbond W25Q16JW.
Do you know what this chip is for ?
I don’t understand what this chip is for. Should I dump this one too ?
About the trimming, I followed a tutorial telling me to make sure the new bios starts and ends at the same offset as the orginal bios dump to get the same .bin size file.
Sir… i dont have all the mbs model here living sleeping eating with me…
Im not going to lose my time to check every user model mb information to know if there’s 1 3 4 56 ICS on the fk mb…this is user information to provide.
Small IC is vbios, did you bothered to even check IC model and storage capacity… its a 2Mb IC
User dump (same mb model) with no DMI here, dont ask to edit it.

OVER_N_OUT of here.
Hey, no worries
I didn’t ask specifically you to do something.
I’m learning and trying to diagnose the issues.
If someone from the forum could help me or explain me some stuffs, I’d be glad but no obligation :).
I’m not here to bother anyone. If people can’t help, it’s fine too.
I wanted to try to fix it myself before to bring it to a fixer I talked on the phone but he’s on vacations.

Thanks the badcaps link but it’s been a week I’ve been trying to get this bios.
But they closed badcaps signups. I try every day to sign up. Still close.
I even tried to talk to Hoaca388 (user who gave the clean bios dump) on another viet forum but the signups are close too.
I’m quite unlucky
