RE: Drivers for ASUS K70IC Laptop

Hi, I just purchased a crucial mx300 ssd for my Asus k70IC laptop and have successfully cloned and installed it. I also set up my BIOS so AHCI mode is activated. It runs a lot faster now! I would like to get the maximum performance from it and that is why I’m asking you this question. My laptop has the following installed on it:

4.0 Gb of RAM

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM2) Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz 2.53GHz

Original Storage: Serial ATA support OEM Hard drive: Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9320423AS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

New Storage: Crucial Mx300 2.5in 525GB SSD

Chipset: nVidia MCP79D

Display Adaptor: NVIDIA GeForce GT 220M

IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers: NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller

What is the best driver out there that can take advantage of AHCI mode for a nVidia MCP79D chipset?

Is it a Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller?

Any help on this would be much appreciated?

Thank you.

@Bru :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Yes, it is the MSAHCI driver, which manages the "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller".
Reasons:
1. The old nForce AHCI drivers have never been designed for Win7/8/10 and do not work very well with modern Windows Operating Systems.
2. Contrary to the nForce AHCI drivers the MS one supports TRIM, which is responsable for a quick refreshment of the SSD cells.

Happy New Year!
