Is Silicon Motion NVMe drivers better than Microsoft inbox NVMe drivers?
Usually the MS in-box NVMe driver is the best one for modern systems running Win10/11, but there are exceptions. The user has to find it out himself with his specific PC configuration.
Hey, nvme.sys of Phison generic NVMe driver for Windows 8 (x64+x86) is … have some problems
I think is happened cuz i not connected to Internet
Which sort of problems do you have?
An internet connection is not required while booting off an NVMe SSD.
You should ask the signer (if there is anyone) or Microsoft.
By the way: The digital signature of all drivers can be found in the “Properties” of the related *.cat file.
I think Windows 8 can’t verify signer (idk)
@TQTVN
The device Manager of each Windows OS and the “Properties” of the associated *.cat file show it very clearly, whether and by whom a certain Storage Controller driver has been digitally signed.
Please stop the discussion about the driver’s digital signature and return to the topic of this thread.
Any chance you can give the 32 bit windows 7 Samsung driver the same mod+signing treatment you did for the 64bit driver?
Thanks!
@SupraGSX
Attached is the requested driver.
Please test it and give me a feedback. If it should work, I will add the link to the initial post of this thread.
Good luck!
generic 32bit Samsung NVMe driver v3.3.0.2003 for Win7 x86 mod+signed by Fernando.rar (68.8 KB)
For Windows 8 / Windows Server 2012, to verify the digital signature of the Phison Generic NVMe driver, KB2862966 needs to be installed.
Thank you for the driver!! My findings are it is recognized in windows setup and will let you try and use it as a boot driver. For my Samsung 950 pro it worked all the way through so the mod didn’t compromise the base driver. It froze on starting windows screen with my Kingston drive however so I’m not positive if it’s just that it’s incompatible with the Kingston nvme or if it’s a broader issue. I’ll try and do some more testing with it.
Thanks again!
Hi!
I got the 64 bit driver, added an Nvme drive in VirtualBox and attempted to install the driver on Vista x64. Well, it started installing the driver, but then failed, because it’s not signed.
@Sardoc
Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
Which one? The initial post of this thread contains a lot of 64bit drivers.
The one from this post you made: Recommended AHCI/RAID and NVMe Drivers - #2521 by Fernando
Yea… It fails installation because the drivers are required to be digitally signed, and while the system still continues working immediately after the installation fails, when I restart it, it will refuse to boot even if I press F8 and disable enforcing driver signatures.
Is there a signed version of an NVME driver that works with Vista somewhere?
@Sardoc
AFAIK there is no officially released NVMe driver available, which natively supports Windows XP or Vista.
So you probably have to use a “backported” NVMe driver, which has been designed for Win7. We do not offer drivers, whose hex code has been modified, because this would be a violation of the manufacturer’s copyright.
Where is Intel NVMe driver v4.0.0.1007?
Both requested drivers (32bit and 64bit) are attached.
32bit Intel NVMe Driver v4.0.0.1007 WHQL for Win7-10.rar (232.3 KB)
64bit Intel NVMe Driver v4.0.0.1007 WHQL for Win7-10.rar (238.5 KB)
Good luck!
Thanks!
