Recommended AHCI/RAID and NVMe Drivers

The SiliconMotion NVMe drivers doesn’t work on VMware with Guest OS config in VM config is Windows 10 and later or Windows Server 2022 and later (after load, the driver cause BSoD or the disk wont appear)

Hello,

My Samsung 990 Pro works in my Windows 7, but SMART is not accessible and CrystalDiskInfo doesn’t show the disk, so decided to try to install some drivers to get it to work.

I tried to install several drivers (Samsung original and mod, Phison, Micron, all are “for Win7 x64“ ofcourse) via “have disk” and selecting the .inf, but always getting this:

Why is it happening, am I doing smth wrong?

Without knowing the exact HardwareIDs of your on-board NVMe Controller and the exact name of the in-use NVMe driver I cannot help you.

Resolved, I was trying to apply them to the drive device instead of the NVMe controller device.

Just one strange thing. Installed Samsung mod driver for the 990 Pro, everything seems alright except that CrystalDiskInfo of the last version (9.9.1) is not able to read any SMART data except for temperature and available spare. Which is very strange, given that 9.2.0 supported 9900 Pro as can be seen on the program’s website.

The HW ID of the disk is SCSI\DiskNVMe____Samsung_SSD_990_7B2Q,
and the ID of the NVME controller is PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A80C&SUBSYS_A801144D&REV_00

There is no need to install a modded Samsung driver. You can use Samsung’s original WHQL certified driver as well, if you force the installation by using the “Have Disk” option. Although the exact HardwareIDs of the SSD’s in-box NVMe Controller is not listed within the *.INF file, it will work.

But:

WHQL certified by Microsoft and a very good choice for all Samsung 95x/96x/97x Series NVMe SSDs

mod+signed generic Samsung NVMe drivers:

a) For non-Samsung NVMe SSDs or new Samsung SSD models (e.g. 980/990)

Is this not true?

That was my knowledge, when I started this thread in May 2013.
Meanwhile I know, that nearly all NVMe drivers can be used with nearly all NVMe SSDs, if the installation has been forced.

Can you provide Intel Matrix Storage Driver for Windows XP and later (original)

@TQTVN
Although I have a lot of Intel AHCI/RAID drivers, which belong to the Matrix Storage Manager techology, they are not listed within the initial post of this thread.
Reason: They are extremely outdated and not recommended by me for Windows Operating Systems from XP up.
By the way - download links to Intel MSM AHCI/RAID drivers v8.9.8.1005 can be found within the initial post of >this< thread. If you want to get access to other Intel MSM AHCI or RAID drivers, please post your request into that thread.

Why I can’t comment in that thread?

Because that thread has been closed a while ago and cannot be re-opened by me.
