Recover BIOS after update failed

Hello,

I have an OEGStone DH61DL motherboard. I have updated the BIOS but it failed.
Now the motherboard powers up and I can access the BIOS interface but it does not boot any operating system.

If I try to update again, it always fails.

I have read and backed up the non working BIOS with a usb programmer CH341A.

I have erase and write the chip with the CH341A software, but then the screen stays black.
I have write the chip with a BIOS file from OEGStone website but the screen stays black.
I have write back the non working BIOS, and it is the same problem as when the update failed : the motherboard powers on but does not boot

What can I do?

Thanks in advanced for your help

@mapomme1108 - Please link me to the stock BIOS download page, and please also zip and upload your backup of the chip.
What is the BIOS chip ID? What software and version did you dump the chip with? Hopefully your dump is OK, not all software/version can read or write to all chips properly.

So you can boot to BIOS now? If yes, then all probably OK, you just need to set BIOS settings correctly, correct boot order, move OS hard drive to top of boot priority list etc.
Show me images of all BIOS pages, please make these images 800-1000px wide only, then put in max compressed zip

Hello,

Thank you for your help.

Here is the link to the
stock BIOS download page

Here is the link to the zip of
my backup of the chip

The BIOS chip ID is : $EF, $40, $16, $15

The software I use is CH341A Programmer v1.34.
I have detected, read and backup the chip with it.

Here is a link to images of the
BIOS pages

I can boot to BIOS now but the motherboard hangs on this screen unless I press a functiun key.

If I press F10 to choose a boot device, the list of devices appear but when I press Enter to boot from a device, the motherboard hangs.

Hello,
Is there any news?
Regards.
François

@mapomme1108 - Hey! So sorry for the late reply!
Issue - You linked me to stock BIOS download page, for two models other than the one you mentioned, I only see DH61WW & DH61CR there, not DH61DL
I see DH61DL is mentioned on that page (DH61DL (BOAMOT-419 / BOAMOT-423)), but it does not say which BIOS applies to that system.
Please look at the board itself, on stickers, what model do you see DH61xx?

Also, please re-upload your other linked stuff above, links are dead. Sorry, this is my fault for loosing this topic so long!

So, can you enter BIOS? If yes, good! Can you boot to DOS? If yes, reflash the stock BIOS from there, if possible… If you know which file applies to your system?? I see there F7 is BIOS update hotkey, you may be able to reflash it from there via BIOS on USB
Also, enter BIOS, find the boot area, and move your OS disk to the top of that list, save and apply, reboot and see if windows loads.

Hello and welcome back,

The motherboard is a DH61DL.
There is a sticker on the motherboard : BDTL121001YU AAG14066-202
There is not BOAMOT-419 / BOAMOT-423 written on the motherboard.

Here are the files you asked for
My backup of the corrupted BIOS

I have not used the motherboard for weeks and I had removed the BIOS battery.
I have turned it on today and there was a boot screen I have not seen before with the BIOS specifications :

AMERICAN MEGATRENDS
Version 2.14.1219
2011
Bios date : 12/05/2012 18:07:07
Ver : BE

I can enter BIOS but I can not boot from any devices.

F7 is BIOS update hotkey but it does not work.
F12 is boot to network hotkey and it does not work.
F2 is BIOS interface hotkey and it works.
F10 is boot devices choice hotkey and it works.

When I press F10, I can see the list of devices from which I can boot but
if I double click on one device, it does not boot and the motherboard freeze.
When I press F2 I can see the BIOS interface but if I change the boot order to boot on
a bootable USB key or hard drive and I save it and reboot, the motherboard does not boot on
the first boot device. It stays on the screen where you can see the hotkeys choice.

Thanks again for your help.

Better pay attention to the revisions of this bios and her structure, regarding SandyBridge to IvyBridge support and other details…

Seems that ur working with old files…or not. Latest is 0120

@mapomme1108 - Thanks! Still need clarification about the stock BIOS download page you linked, and the model you mentioned. What exact file/link did you flash in that caused the failure?
On this >> BOAMOT-419 / BOAMOT-423 << I assumed maybe model of the “System”, maybe on sticker on case or something? I don’t know, only going by the page you linked me to, which appears to NOT have BIOS links for DH61DL board

Please read the ID off the chip with your eyes, flashlight and magnifying glass may be needed. What is the full ID of the chip?

What CPU model do you have?

@MeatWar - thanks! What do you know here about this rebranded model? Can his board use normal Intel BIOS DH61DL ?

FID for his dumped BIOS = BE022, but of course this may be due to he flashed in wrong BIOS???
Stock BIOS page he linked above does not have a BIOS for his model, so I’m not sure what should be done here, with know previous BIOS backup before the flash/bricking.
I helped someone fix “CR” model board, and it has this same ID too. I have not looked at anything stock from Intel yet (even stock CR BIOS) waiting to know what his correct “Stock” BIOS should be from the company he linked.

I do believe this board will not be much “rebranded”…customized (DMI oem and not much more i think…)
He can have a chance with factory normal Intel bios versions, its his decision only.
Not expecting a different hw board layout…but he’s the one that have to inspect that, if intended to take a chance.
I didn’t had browsed the links he provided, seems they "dislike"bios 0120…lol

Hello,

On the BIOS download page there is this title : "Intel DH61WW / Intel DH61CR / Intel DH61DL Recommended BIOS Version"
so I have assumed the BIOS file from this page was correct for my motherboard

I have downloaded the file “Upgradetov0116.zip” on the same page.
First I have used BE0048.BIO from the zip file with the BIOS update tool of the motherboard and it worked and the BIOS interface changed drastically. Before I had flash the boot screen was “OEGStone”, then it was “Intel”.
Then I have used BE0099.BIO with the BIOS update tool of the motherboard and it failed.

I am agree to flash the BIOS with any file because the motherboard is not usable right now, it can’t be worst and if it does not work, I can still write the corrupted BIOS back on the chip.

The chip ID is : Winbond 250328VSIG 110
The CPU model is : Intel Core i3 2100

Thank you for your help

Still do it in the same order 048 again, 099 ant then 0116…assuming that ur now gonna use Intel files, use BIOS recovery files (OS fw files as 2nd option.)

I can’t do it because the F7 key does not work.

I am trying to install Windows via network because the F12 key works
Then I hope I can do it via OS fw files

What I need now is a BIOS file that I can write to the chip with the usb programmer CH341A.

Thank you for your help
