Hi all, I am looking to fully unlock the bios on my old laptop. A couple years back Zentsi helped unlock a couple of parameters for me, without having to do a flash, but OEM support for this laptop is abysmal and their software is broken; so I’d like to unlock the BIOS fully so I can ditch the software and just do things manually.
I have extracted the bios with a CH341a programmer using NeoProgrammer 2.2.0.10 in Windows 11. It detects the chip as a “W25Q256JV” however the chip is labelled W25R256JV.
The only program I could find that lists the exact chip is ASProgrammer, but I cannot get it to detect or read the chip (even though it does detect the programmer itself).
I am somewhat confident that I have extracted the BIOS completely/correctly, by viewing in UEFITool, though the file is larger than when dumped from Windows.
ahh I hope this isn’t the end of the road, put a lot of time and effort in to get this far. 3 programmers, 2 test clips and god knows how many different versions of programs until I finally got something extracted that looked right.
