I’m requesting for an unlocked BIOS that enables the iGPU for this notebook. It’s currently not present in the BIOS, even though the CPU (Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz) does come with an iGPU. I believe the reason for this lock is that it has no path to the display, so it was disabled.
But I plan on doing a PCIe passthrough with it, so I’d like for it to just be active and ready to be used in the background, while only using the dGPU (which I also do passthrough at times) for its display. I don’t think there’s a term for this, but the closest thing would be MSHybrid mode, which instead primarily uses the iGPU and has the dGPU active in the background.
The vendor of the firmware is American Megatrends Inc. and is running version GL502VS.306.
I tried modding it myself, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly. I used the AMIBCP5 program to configure the BIOS file and set the “Access/Use” of the “Advanced” and “Chipset” directories to “USER”. I do believe this is correct, but I feel uneasy doing this myself, so I’d like for someone else who has experience in modding a BIOS for their input.
