[REQUEST] Asus X99 Strix - system agent voltage - cant boot with auto

Desperately looking for help and/or advice.

I use the asus x99 strix and the auto voltage for system agent is way too high for my chip. The auto setting tries to boot with 1.2v system agent. The memory controller is so sensitive I could only get it to work with 0.925-0.975. Once I boot into bios with MemOK and set the memory frequency, timings, and system agent then I can boot regularly, shutdown, and reboot fine. If I reset the bios settings I get the endless loops with 95 post code, but if I use MemOK to get in bios and set these voltages manually then I can use the computer again.

Is there any possible way to modify the bios to load a manual frequency before booting? I made the mistake of trying to upgrade bios for the latest cpu microcode and now I can’t post even with memok. I think the system agent are most likely the culprit but have no other chip to post with to change these settings. I’m not sure what else could cause the issue, but I know for a fact the auto settings of voltage on this board are ridiculous. Please help me if you can

This was the newest bios that i tried to flash and I came across a thread here - modding X99 gaming strix bios https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…G-ASUS-2101.zip
This is the bios i was using that worked but had ridiculous auto voltages - https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…G-ASUS-1701.zip
the voltages and frequency i was running was 44cpu 1.220v 43cache 1.165v system agent 0.945v input voltage 1.93v and memory 100:133 2666 1.4v eventual dram and 15-17-17-35 timings

if anyone can suggest anything I can try, please do.
@Lost_N_BIOS if you have some time and can help me, it will mean a lot.

thank you everybody and be safe

Hello,
I’m new to trying to mod and reading around the forum as much as I can.

Some of the AMIBCP sections are confusing me, for example there is the “Memory Timings & Voltage Override” inside IntelRCSetup and it says “To select 1.20V enter 120” and under “Ai Tweaker - DRAM Timing Control” the DRAM Eventual Voltage shows “Min: 0.800V | Max 1.900V”. So the first one I would use 120 for 1.20v but here I would use 1200 for 1.20v?

I also see ther “OverClocking” section at the bottom and Ai Tweaker, do I configure both to match?

Ultimately I was trying to create a bios from https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…G-ASUS-2101.zip / http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…868866474449551 my processor worked great on the past board but this strix x99 board has auto values that seem to be way too high and I think my chips IMC is weak/dying so it won’t boot on auto. Before I would be able to use MemOK to load failsafe defaults and set the voltages, after setting voltages it would boot fine. I think chip has degraded even more and now I can’t boot with failsafes. Everything was working fine until I tried to update the bios and reset all its settings, now I cant make it into bios and don’t have another chip to preconfigure the settings

See, this is part of the reason I wanted you to set in BIOS, and then dump, because it’s not stored in BIOS when saved as 1.20 or 1200 etc, so that is why I needed some changed/set BIOS voltage and then dumped BIOS to inspect.
You do not change anything in IntelRCSetup, only Ai Tweaker.

USB flashback to the older BIOS that worked better for your CPU, then remove all but one stick of memory, slowest and cheapest you have that you know works, then do all your BIOS Dances to get into BIOS, make the setting changes you want and then send to me.
I can then make you a stock BIOS to USB Flashback that will have those as default (for any BIOS version)

I am replying to you in PM, and on another thread, why do you have two threads anyway? Which do you want to keep, or OK to merge them etc?

Thank you very much and I think this one is better to keep. I wasnt aware of what the tools could do before speaking to you so I appreciate you explaining in PM.
I’m currently trying to get the bios dump for the x99 strix, posting on different forums looking for someone with the board

OK, I will just merge both here then, that way your questions are still answered and all that remains from the other thread.

Make sure someone gives you their actual dump, not some “Dump” they picked up online from BIOS repair/dump sites, those would normally be exact same fake/non-dump you sent me where someone replaces stock region into a full BIOS file.
And of course, hopefully you talk to someone that does it for you, so you can have them set this specific voltage changes you want before they dump too.

So, is there still no cheap X99 CPU’s like pentium/celeron? Or cheap first gen models no one wants anymore so price driven way down on ebay?

Thank you for suggesting this!!! I kept looking for the 5820k cpu and I forgot of the xeon chips! There seems to be some very cheap xeons at $10-20. I’m going to pick one of these up and see if I can get into bios and set the voltages.Hope to make some progress this week, very excited to see chips at this price.

Ohh nice and you’re welcome! $10-20 Xeons!! I always skipped buying these boards to recover/repair/resell because last I looked, years ago, all CPU’s cost $200+
Make sure the Xeon you choose is compatible with the BIOS that you know is in there, ie check CPUID of CPU + Microcodes in BIOS with MC Extractor
That’s not always 100% reliable, but good/only starting point, other than google CPU model + your board to see if anyone has used/commented about etc.

@Lost_N_BIOS Hello there! I was able to get a xeon chip. The xeon posted on first boot with one stick of ram :frowning:
I set the manual voltages of cpu core, cache, and system agent as well as some other settings in this bios
I wanted to test the other chip with cpu core 1.25v cpu cache 1.175v and system agent 0.975v
Please get back to me when you have a chance and thank you for helping me through this

@johndoe0004 - Great to hear it!! So, to confirm, you need me to copy out cpu core, cache, and system agent as they are set correct, for the other CPU?
Other settings I don’t need to copy over, you can change those once in BIOS

Ohh yes, it was really only “System Agent” voltage that was the issue! So to keep things simple for me and less confusing, I will only copy over that one.
Please now confirm what else from stock you have to change, exactly (exact name, and ALL exact settings by name that you also changed) in order to set this System Agent voltage.
You’re welcome! Similar request sent just now in PM too
