Hello, I have a simple (I think?) request, but I know nothing at all about bios modding.
My motherboard is an MSI X79A-GD45 (not the 8D version or the Plus, just the basic one with 4 dimm slots). It has the latest bios version on it which is v 2.8.
Would it be possible to change the dates in the bios? I don’t need anything else changed, just the dates. I understand there may be several places where the date is listed in the bios, but I assume I only need to change the one that returns the values seen by programs like CPU-Z, HWINFO, Windows System Information, etc.
Why? I wish to participate on a platform and they told me that my PC is too old for their platform. But they only use the date in the bios to determine the age of the PC, and they use this date as the sole piece of data to determine the suitability of a PC. They don’t care about the cpu model, architecture, clock rate, tpm, or actual performance of a PC, only the date in the bios. If I were to buy a cheap Chinese X79 motherboard new from Aliexpress, with a bios date of 2020, and replace my motherboard with that one, keeping all other components the same, then they would be satisfied. Except I would not be satisfied because those Chinese motherboards are not very good.
So, I would like to change the date in the bios to Aug 11, 2020, because that’s when I bought this motherboard and CPU. If it would also be possible to add a “b” or “.1” to the bios version number as well just to designate that a change has been made, that would be icing on the cake, though not strictly necessary.
If someone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.
