[Request] BIOS mod ASUS VivoBook 15 X510UR

Quick explanation of how to edit AMITSE module on X510UR laptop.
143AB0h to 143BAFh is menu tabs display region.

Currently appear menu tabs are :
(Main : 1627 ) (Advanced : 1727 )(Boot : 1827 )(Security : 1927 )(Save & Exit : 1A27 )

I want to let it become to :
[Main : 1127] [Advanced : 1227] [chipset : 1327] (Advanced : 1727 )(Boot : 1827 )(Security : 1927 )(Save & Exit : 1A27 )
So , we need to add 1227 and 1327 then remove 1627

143C10h to143C6Fh region here suppressed 1127 ,so we only need to swap 1127 and 1627 ,then let 1627 disappear. Because i don’t want see two Main tab.

8BF3Ch to 8BF3Eh and 8BF4Ch to 8BF4Eh ,they suppress
[Advanced : 1727 ][Boot : 1827] two tab ,we only need to edit them from B81227 to B80000 and from B81327 to B80000.

Now we can get we want root menu tabs. Sub-options still need to unlock by refer to the extracted IFR file from Setup module(899407D7-99FE-43D8-9A21-79EC328CAC21).

So you used IDA pro to modify, skipped addresses, changed, added, deleted values and cleared jumps that could lead to verification?

No , i only edit it with hex editor and don’t jump any function. The easiest and safer way is set it to 00.

By skipping addresses I mean going straight to the point where it should be modified(shearch or ctrl+G in hexadecimal editor). But later I will try to make my mod following these steps.

Glad that genius and you managed to unlock it.

You mean nothing happens by clicking on Setup Settings? If so, don’t know why tho. I set 2710 to 0 in the same subroutine genius pointed to.
I’m going to delete all the files I posted so they don’t clutter the thread or distract other users.

Sorry, I didn’t even see that there was a setup settings, Do you want me to test it again?

That would be nice.

Also, I’m more curious if region~4.bin file works, which I send you in PM back then. Not like if it unlocks the Advanced menu or not, it certainly won’t, but I’m curious if it bricks the laptop’ setup screen. I’ve made rather drastic changes to setup data module which would be good to test.
But if you already assembled the device after the bios recovery, it’s not worth the test.

@Sweet_Kitten When I went to re-record, Neoprogrmmaer recorded everything wrong, and when I plugged the notebook into the socket it turned on, showed a red LED on the battery and turned off, I think that’s the brick in this notebook.

Don’t we already have root tabs?

I click on setup settings and nothing happens…

Thanks for the info.

How annoying, I thought I could activate a mux switch, but there is only one option, and I went to deactivate the integrated video and the notebook no longer showed video, I had to re-record it again, and not even the HDMI escaped from the Nvdia Optimus.

The goal is performance.

The goal is performance.

disable:
CFG Lock, Bi-directional PROCHOT, SpeedStep, Enhanced C-states (optional).

enable:
Speed Shift, FCLK Frequency → 1 GHz, Above 4GB (only used it when the bios has already patched with UEFIPatch from ReBarUEFI).

other than this you could try update Microcode, Vbios, gop, gop vbt, Intel RST VMD (intel optane memory), ME Firmware.

I would really need to improve the cooling efficiency, I bought a Chinese thermal paste, it seems to be really good. I already changed it, but with another paste. And I suppose finding a way to put another fan in would help, but I would need an external power source, it could even be the notebook’s USB.

A better option is to add one heatpipe from cpu to the fan, either by using thermal paste with tape or thermal glue.

edit:
You could also add thermal tape for the vram that crosses the heatpipe.

It makes sense, since the heat pipe passes through the video card before reaching the processor, so theoretically adding one more to the processor should help.

There are also cooling platforms, but they don’t have holes underneath, only in front of the screen.

The thermal paste may even be from China, but it works well, now the notebook does not go beyond 86c° It used to reach 100 in the bentchmark test

Hey @rieidi does your laptop boots using only the charger? without the battery connected?

Yes, Why?

It is my understanding that some of this laptops like yours and mine don’t have a coin cell battery and they use the actual battery to keep the bios settings so they don’t turn on without the battery even if you power them with the charger. I can’t open mine right now so I was just curious about yours, thanks.
