[Request] BIOS mod for MSI 880GM-P51 to boot from NVME

Tried to use mmtool to read the bios file, but got "Error Loading Firmware image (80000001h). Can someone help to how to insert nmve to this bios ( https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/880GMP51/support)? Thanks. I have done ASUS H81M-K successfully.

Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
All available BIOS versions for your old MSI mainboard are AMI non-UEFI ones. That is the reason why you were not able to open it by using an AMI Aptio UEFI Tool.
You can open the latest BIOS for your mainboard, if you rename it to a *.ROM file and open it with the AMI MMTool v3.26. This is what I got:
Opened AMI non-UEFI BIOS

These are the only options for you to get an inserted NVMe SSD bootable with this mainboard:
a) Get a Samsung 950 Pro SSD (it supports natively booting in LEGACY mode).
b) Insert an NVMe Option ROM into the mainboard BIOS (for details look >here<).
Good luck!

Many thanks for the quick reply. I followed your instruction and open the BIOS file successfully. However, I cannot find “CSMCORE” item to insert. I blindly insert NVME file, but then I could not find the DXE item in the list. Where did I do wrong?

Here is another half screenshot of my mmtool item lists. I did item by item comparison, and only find “POST” shown as addition to the original item lists. Is this right?

No… the procedure you took is still regarding the UEFI method.
Your old bios doesn’t have CSMCORE and doesnt use DXE drivers, that’s why Fernando linked the path to follow in option b) linked thread, so forget what you read from the UEFI guide for old AMI boards.

Many thanks for the quick guidance.
