[REQUEST] Can someone make a good Dell G7 7588 BIOS?

@BDMaster I don’t know if it would help with any potential mods, but the problem with the BIOS as it is currently is the TDP limits. If the PCH gets above 85 degrees C it throttles the CPU down to 799mhz, I think the wattage goes to like 6 watts or something for the CPU. I’ll check my throttlestop logs to confirm. Is that fixable via BIOS mods? Can it be set to throttle to like 1600mhz instead?

EDIT: Just checked, it’s 6.1-7.2 watts. For 1600mhz, it’d need 11.8.

We have to find a different Firmware for your laptop as it didn’t work well, you cab try these from below links ;

@zaq_hack
To update microcode it needs to know your CPU data so it needs to use CPU-z and HWINFO64 and get the screenshot about CPU …

Anyway if “zaq_hack” will give a firmware backup we will use to recover the “cbkumme” laptop !

@BDMaster - The one from BadCaps seems to be working pretty well so far.

It’s literally in the previous message?

CPU info: Intel core 17-8750H 2.20GHz
CPU ID: 906ea

@zaq_hack
Could you use this tool run it as Admin and upload the result file ? without i cannot know how to reflash the modified bios , have you too an SPI Programmer ?

Ohhh … I see the problem. It’s bigger than 6 MB. Weird, it tells me it uploads, but not so much.
Let me find a home for it.

EDIT: Let’s try this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qjvvvgst1mdivee/results20.rar

My machine still thinks it’s a G5. Is there anything we can do to fix this, and the power limit throttling?

Did this go anywhere? The dump file is still on my Dropbox link, above. Haven’t heard back on this thread for a few days. Just wondering if this is the right tree at which to bark … or if there are tools I could use to update microcode in the BIOS, myself.

I think it helps to tag the guys helping you, as they are pretty busy. @BDMaster - What do you need from us to keep going on this?

@zaq_hack - What’s the issue you’re trying to solve? I’ve been able to get mine functioning from a bricked BIOS, so while I don’t know how to change the microcode, I might be able to help you with at least a workaround.

advisoryIDs = "INTEL-SA-00161", "INTEL-SA-00219", "INTEL-SA-00289", "INTEL-SA-00334"

Far as I know, these can only be fixed with new microcode and proper BIOS options.

Interesting. I haven’t had that problem, that I know of. May I ask how you can tell, and what are the problems it’s causing? I had to flash a generic G7 BIOS on my machine to get it unbricked, and now it thinks it’s a G5, so I wonder if some of the issues I’m having could be caused by microcode problems.

Ok friends, there are Eeprom’s write protect variables to set 0x00 …

BIOS platform - AMI Aptio 5

Error 167: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access.
Please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable
Protected Range Registers.

Variables are :

FPRR VarOffset - 0x10C1

We cannot write back the bios mod without these modifies, so use RU shell like into these tutorials and set the values to 0x00 :

We have to check too the MEinfo to check the Boot Guard and FPF active … use this tool and get the verbose log :
