@howiec - Great to hear it, thanks for the quick test and report back!
Hello, i need modded bios of older Version 1602 2018/07/10
I can find IOAPIC 24-119 now
I remember that there must be HPET option, but i can’t find it right now.
I need:
1. HPET option
2. TCO Timer
3. IOAPIC 24-119
4. XHCI Legacy
5. XHCI Hand-off
6. USB KB/Mouse Sim
7. SPD Write Disable
8. CPU SMM submenu (ALL inner contents)
9. Legacy IO Low Latency
10. And Memory Remap (single option)
-CPU Microcode WITHOUT Meltdown & Spectre patches for full CPU performance, looks like version 1602 has no M&S code, is that correct?
I need 2 versions of modded bios, first version with INTEL ME disabled and 2nd version with enabled ME.
My cpu is 8700k
My mobo is Asus X Hero z370 wifi, but i’ve pulled out wifi module.
Also, what method are you using to dissable ME, is it partially neutralized or fully disabled?
I know that code in the ROM cannot be removed because it’s inside of the processor itself (read only memory). But other part is on the flash, and it can be removed.
How to check total amount of ME code remaining after your modification?
Send me pm with your pp email and how much to donate.
Thank you Sir!
@REGEN - Why do you need OLD BIOS?? If you just want non-spectre/meltdown microcodes we can do that via swap in >> cpu906EA_plat02_ver00000070_2017-08-23_PRD_711B866C.bin
No, 1602 BIOS is not pre-spectre/meltdown, it has some fixes there in microcodes at least, the one above is only one for 906EA without some fix in it (1602 has Rev 96 from 5/2/2018)
ME Disabled, if you wanted, I would do via HAP Bit disable. How are you flashing BIOS? I don’t think USB Flashback will flash in ME FW if your ME FW is already that version, so it will skip any ME FW changes.
You may have to flash that is via ME FW update tool, to disable, but to enable back you would then need flash programmer, or unlocked FD via flash programmer or pinmod.
So, before, you, or I, do anything in regards to ME FW, be 100% sure of what you want, it’s not easy to go back if you do not have flash programmer or already did pimod (live short) and unlocked your FD
Also, in regards to ME FW, if you’ve already flashed latest BIOS, you cannot go back to older ME FW, unless unlocked FD already or you have flash programmer.
But you can flash in disable ME FW via ME FW update tool
Never mind! Disregard most of what I mentioned above, if you want ME FW disabled by me using HAP Bit method, you need flash programmer or unlocked FD first, because FD and ME region both need written to to disable ME FW in this manner
I have no idea about ME FW workings, or the things you asked about, you’ll have to research about what HAP bit disable ME FW gives you and then you know what I can do for you via this method (once you have unlocked FD, or flash programmer such as CH341A)
If your goal is about performance, then leave ME FW alone. And use latest BIOS + Old microcode that you want.
So let me know what you want done, I can edit the latest mod I already did for you if you want, to put in older microcode (Actually, that would be post #77 above)
if you want ME FW changed in that BIOS, or you still want OLD BIOS, let me know.
I will send you PM, if you really want, but it’s not required for me to edit something for you.
Send me a PM if you still want to send something my way and I’ll send you how-to info, thanks!
- I overclocked my cpu to 4.7ghz on 1602 bios and it is working fine for 2 years with two gtx 1080 ti in SLI.
I watched few videos on youtube where 2017 bioses for z370 taichi are faster than latest 2020. Anyway, I need to test it.
2. What microcode without M&S can you recommend?
3. Yes I know about HAP Bit disable, but also, it is possible to delete part of the ME code from the flash.
4. Yes I want to test one mobo with ME disabled. If there will be problems with stability or overclocking, I will use my friends help, he has flash programmer.
5. I don’t know what microcode to choose, but as I said, I need best overclocking + disabled ME + no M&S
6. For best results, again, we need to test, so I have 2 same mobos with same cpu.
They have the same 1602 bios. On number one I will flash 1602 with ME, on other 1602 without it.
If I will have problems, I will wirte here and then maybe try nevest bios. Or best one for overclocking. Maybe you can comment what bios is the best for your taste?
Reason to use latest bios if older one is working stable? I won’t upgrade to 9900k.
Thank you a lot!
Ok then, please tell me, you can’t help me, so I need to search for another solution?
@REGEN - Sorry for delay, I am always buried and behind here, can’t keep up with all the new requests each day
1. So, your CPU would OC fine on latest BIOS too, but if you want old BIOS we can do. Taichi BIOS or board is unrelated to yours, but yes, sometimes old BIOS (due to ME or microcodes, or both) may be faster
2. I mentioned it above.
3. If you want me to do it, I only do HAP bit disable.
4. See above, I can do one w/ one w/out, but yes, you will need flash programmer to go back to one with once it’s disabled (Unless you flash in unlocked FD first, via pinmod or flash programmer)
5. See #2
6. Great way to test
I don’t use this board, so I can’t comment on what BIOS is best for anything, other than to say I always suggest using the latest BIOS and then mod to whatever you want done (such as ME Disable, old microcodes etc)
This way, you’re using the latest BIOS with all the bugs worked out, and all proper fixes and enhancements added in vs some old buggy BIOS that may not be tuned for best performance (speaking generally, nothing to do about microcodes)
Ok. Since, I already downloaded new modded bios, I will have 3 different biosses and 2 same mobos to test.
But first I need old version modded bios 1602. Tell me when it’s ready.
Thank you!
Happy New Year!
It’s not even Christmas yet
Happy Holidays and New Year to you as well! Sorry for delay here, always buried
This is my bad sense of humor. I just come here from time to time and check, maybe the BIOS is READY. hands itch to test)))))
@REGEN - It’s OK, I knew you were joking and just needed to bump, did you see my edit? I understand and am fine with thread bumps, I actually wish more people would, once every 24-48 hours or so, that way less threads get lost to me
I will work on BIOS for you right now
Asus X Hero z370 WIFI - 1602 BIOS base >>
1. HPET option
2. TCO Timer
3. IOAPIC 24-119
4. XHCI Legacy
5. XHCI Hand-off
6. USB KB/Mouse Sim
7. SPD Write Disable
8. CPU SMM submenu (ALL inner contents)
9. Legacy IO Low Latency
10. And Memory Remap (single option) >> *** Issue, see below
11. Microcode downgrade >> cpu906EA_plat02_ver00000070_2017-08-23_PRD_711B866C.bin
+ Secondary BIOS with ME Disabled via HAP Bit
To use ME Disabled via HAP Bit, you must write ME FW region with ME FW update tool (ME.bin included)
+ you must also write modified FD region via FPT w/ already unlocked FD
OR, you must write entire BIOS via USB Flashback with flashback hard mod done to board (or write BIOS via Flash programmer)
FD + ME must be written, or HAP Bit disable does not work - Normal USB Flashback (Non-Hard-Mod) will write neither of those
Edit @REGEN - On #10 Memory Remap - This is enabled by default when you load optimized, do you need it disabled??
I can’t make this visible to you. At least not without spending hours to replace some other setting with this one, and it’s not work it for that, I can just change to what you want
In this case, I don’t need Memory Remap, it means, if it is enabled by default, not need to change it.
Ok Will flash via ME FW update tool, do you have detailed instructions?
My friend has flash programmer.
@REGEN - If you have flash programmer, and want to use that, you can program in HAP bit disabled ME FW + FD BIOS all at once.
^^ This is the only way to make this work, unless you find and do the USB Flashback hard mod for this board, or do pinmod to unlock FD (if you want info about pinmod let me know and I will link you)
Yes, memory remap is enabled by default when you load optimal defaults.
Yes please send me link to investigate pinmod.
@REGEN - Here in section E.1 you will find how to do pinmod
[Guide] Unlock Intel Flash Descriptor Read/Write Access Permissions for SPI Servicing
Once applied, DO NOT REBOOT until done with below. If you reboot without doing below, then you will need to apply pinmod again on next boot so you can do below
After pinmod applied and boot to windows >> You will need to use FPTw.exe from ME System Tools V11 package to dump FD, use hex editor edit to unlock FD per spoiler two, image two in section “B” of above linked thread
To dump FD >> FPTw.exe -desc -d FD.BIN
To write back FD after mod >> FPTw.exe -desc -f FDMOD.BIN
If you need me to edit the FD for you, let me know and I can upload unlocked FD file.
* Edit - If you don’t want to do above, then to use ME HAP Bit disabled BIOS you will need to program it in with flash programmer.
I can post both BIOS now if you want? Or, I can wait for you to do above and give me FD or tell me you are ready for new FD/ME to program in with programmer to one of the boards to HAP Bit Disable ME FW
Wil this modded bios also apply on 8086K cpu?
Thank u for all ur hard work!
-------------
It worked just fine

As rule of thumb, keep your OS,apps, bios and drivers updated
Windows 10 enable/disable hpet:
Tap on the Windows-key, enter cmd and select to run the command prompt with administrative privileges.
To enable HPET as the only timer run the command bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
To disable HPET in Windows run the command bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock
Disable windows game mode
Tap on the Windows-key,select settings,click on Gaming,turn off gaming mode,game bar,background recording
For anyone looking for these bios, below is the 2402 tweaked Asus HERO X WIFI version that @Lost_N_BIOS made for me a few months back. I have not updated to the latest bios (reports this one is more stable - still use it today). Figure i’d post it here since all these tinyupload links are dead. If this one is ever dead just shoot me a PM and i’ll reup.
