[Request] Full SPI Dump for ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 (G733ZW)

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a full clean BIOS/SPI flash dump for the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 G733ZWZ-LL139WS (2022), Model ID: G733ZW.

Specs:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-12900H
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti
  • Model: G733ZWZ-LL139WS
  • Serial Number (partial): N7NRKD01388XXXXX

The BIOS got corrupted after an update, and the laptop no longer boots (black screen, no POST). I’m planning to reflash the BIOS using a CH341A programmer and need the complete SPI dump, including:

  • Intel Flash Descriptor (FD)
  • BIOS region
  • Intel Management Engine (ME) region
  • Boot Block and NVRAM (if possible)

I’ve already tried the .CAP BIOS from ASUS support, but it only contains the BIOS region. If anyone can provide a dump from a working unit or help guide me to a source, I’d really appreciate it.

Edit by Fernando: Thread title shortened (not all details have to be written into the title)

Read the IC(s) with the programmer and share/link the “corrupted” dump, this dump is also the source of your Asus system original data, if still possible to recover.

Or you can try to replace bios region/nvram volumes from the CAP file.

Besides…not every user is willing to share this with users or even know how clean the remaining original data from their own dump, ready to share…or the trouble/time to do that “favor”.
Anyway…wait for it.

Some additional info there which isn’t given here.

The static parts of the bios region in backup.bin at badcaps are 100% identical to bios region of update 324.

Another question is if FD/GbE/ME was programmed, too. There might be differences in configuration. GbE has no valid MAC, but that might be OK.

Seems (some) correct information is still in NVRAM in the dump, but unfortunately the original source of this machine specific info in the first EFI volume is overwritten with a stock volume. So if there is no earlier backup of the firmware this info might be gone. Unclear if some AMI DMI tools might be able to restore (and if they write just into NVRAM or restore this info in the original place, or if ASUS does provide some special tools.

Right backup.bin from badcaps, left another dump.

EDIT Funny (?), Badcaps thread got deleted…
