Hey Team, Hope you’re all having a great day. I wanted to see if I could beg for some of your expertise. I have downloaded the BIOS from an earlier Post, featured below.
[Ferrous]
Based on version FD.
Modules, microcodes updated.
NVME, NTFS EFI Boot added.
The Qflash worked perfectly. The NVME drive shows up in windows as local Disk F but is inaccessible. Once I Install the the Samsung NVMe drivers, the disk is found, become accessible for roughly five minutes at which point my computer freezes window by window until it all locks up. I tried to shutdown or restart but it just gets stuck in the loading screen and never does. I was forced to hard reset several times. I have also reinstalled WIN 10 64 many times and finally get it narrowed down to the NVme drive. This is plugged into a PCIE adapter, which is in the x4 slot under the battery. I noticed in Device Manager that when I scan for new hardware after the Samsung NVme drivers are installed, Device Manager finds NVMe controller and then the freezing starts. I have attached the BIOS file from CPI ID z and the report as well. I will also include the Qflash BIOS per instruction in an earlier post. This file is named “BIOSFDSAVE”. All three files are in a ZIP folder per site Req. The site states I cannot upload attachments. Here is a dropbox link instead,
Thank you so much for whatever knowledge you can share.
P.S. I know how non-sensical it is to run this drive through a PCIE 2 slot but i had the drive and no other way to use it, so it works more or less like a normal ssd, albeit not as fast…
Edit by Fernando:
Thread title shortened (the manufacturer and model of the in-use NVMe SSD doesn’t matter)
Try this, then clean install windows in full uefi mode (Disable CSM support before installing). Resizable Bar is possible at max 1GB (due to no Above 4G Decoding option implemented in this bios), you could use Q-Flash to flash, or flashrom dos. Also if you didn’t fill anything inside, try to use samsung magician software and find out if there is any firmware update for your drive. 70ADS3P2Mod.rar (2.8 MB)
Hey bud, I flashed my BIOS with that file and it went off without a hitch but when i rebooted, now i can’t even access the bios and it stuck on the initial bios loading screen where it tells you the keys to hit to go into a menu. but it never moves and you can’t enter any menu. not to qflash again nothing. Do you know why this happened. I’ve bever had this happen before where i couldn’t even access the bios. I guess ill have to pull a jumper on the board. Bulling the battery and clearing the CMOS did not work. I tried the jumper too, still sits on the same screen with the Gigabyte Logo and the four options DEL F9 F12 and END. none of which i can enter. The MB has dual BIOS for this exact situation but that’s not working either. I can confirm there are two BIOS chips on the board, but DUALBios is supposed to run automatically. I really don’t know what to do now.
Just a quick update; I was able to force the board to boot into the backup bios (hold RESET and PWR together for 10 seconds) which thankfully did work. It said the main BIOS was corrupted and had top be re-written from the back-up BIOS. It is booting up fine now. Thanks for trying but I think I’ll just use the external enclosure and upgrade to new hardware.
