[REQUEST] Insydeh20 Rev 3.5 Bios v1.13 Advance Menu Unlock

Hi, I’ve not modded a bios before and I’m looking for help as I can see various documentation but don’t know what is the proper one for my specific device.
I am unable to access the bios menu to switch graphics from intel to nvidia and would like to unlock the advance menu. I’ve tried the FN+Tab and A+F10 options to no success.

It’s been 3 weeks and I can’t do any real school work and I can’t afford to buy a new laptop that’s why I bought this one used.

I would appreciate any help that can be provided really.

Laptop Model is Aspire 8951G-9600 Ethos,

Bump

I sent you a reply about this in PM, lets carry on discussion here thanks. This isn’t something you can do, all graphics are routed out to the display panel through the CPU graphics in nearly 99% of laptops
Link me to your BIOS download page and I can check your BIOS, but I doubt yours is one of the rare ones where this may be possible.

* Edit - I checked BIOS 1.13 from here - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/su…roduct/3657?b=1
And I do see your BIOS has Discrete/switchable and integrated/switchable + special features setting (as well as enable/disable either graphics).
But there is no Muxed/Muxeless or PowerXpress settings, so I’m sure the outcome of any configuration of all of these settings without those last two options being present = black screen / no display output.

You may not need mod BIOS, try this at post 219

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have tried the method on the linked post but it did not work, i’ve tried fn+tab also and doesn’t work.

@domnick - At least you tried. The FN+Tab should be followed by F10 then save and exit, all from within the BIOS, if that’s what you tried then must not work on your system.
Fn + Tab + A is also another one that may take you to the Manufacturer side BIOS, and Shift+F2 to enter BIOS sometimes gets you there too

Do you have flash programmer? As you can see here, post #10, same thing I told you in PM, this is not possible (what you want to do with GFX) - https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-U…Acer-5951G-6879
So, as I suggested, do not try what you mentioned until you have a flash programmer in hand and a backup made that you’ve had someone check to be sure it’s OK.
Otherwise you will end up with no display output and only way to recover would be by blind flash and you have to know the exact keystrokes and be ready for that in advanced, or have a flash programmer with backup made in advance

Hi, I don’t have a flash programmer where can i get this?

You can get on ebay or amazon, or any place like that which sells computer hardware. You need CH341A + SOIC8 test clip with cable.
