[Request] Intel AHCI driver for DEV_A102 Contr. on XP

Good day,

I’ve tried different drivers but I am unable to install the DEV_A102 for Windows XP. I have a Gigabyte B150 motherboard containing a 7th generation I7 (https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-B150M-D3H-rev-10)

I’ve used nlite to slipstream the v11.2 driver and also tried v8 and v.10 but nothing works. I get a blue screen. I’ve tried F7 which doesn’t work. With F5 I get an option to choose 486 hardware and other. Both are not working. I am booting from a USB thumb drive. I have no CD-ROM or floppy drive available.

I’ve installed Windows 10 to double check the device ID and it is really the DEV_A102, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A102&REV31.

Any suggestions? I have Windows 98 work with AHCI drivers without any problems but I want to create a dual boot with Windows XP for retro gaming.

I’ve read this post already and again.
I need the Intel RST drivers v11.2 I guess. I’ve also double checked the device manager guide but it matches what i wrote earlier.

Hardware-id’s:
PCI\VEN_8086%DEV_A102&SUBSYS_B0051458&REV31
PCI\VEN_8086%DEV_A102&SUBSYS_B0051458
PCI\VEN_8086%DEV_A102&CC_010601
PCI\VEN_8086%DEV_A102&CC_0106

It cannot find my drive during installation. I got BSOD.

None of the original Intel v8/10/11 platform Intel RST drivers do support your on-board "“Intel(R) 100 Series/C230 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller”.
Why didn´t you use an Intel AHCI driver, which has been mod+signed by me?

Hello Fernando, I’ve also tried the modded 11.2 version. But I get the same result.

Then you have either chosen a wrong/not matching driver (e.g. a 64bit one) or made a mistake while doing the integration procedure. For details look >here<.

Hello Ferando,

Read the topic.
I am using this one “Generic 32bit Intel RST AHCI driver v11.2.0.1006 mod+signed by Fernando” which seems to be the correct one.

I use nlite XP version to integrate the driver.
I’ve also integrated the intel chipset drivers.

I’ve tried to create the ISO image but this will not work when I use an older version of Rufus. I got a blinking white cursor.
When I use WinSetupFromUSB I am able to boot but I got the BSOD.
I also tried to copy the files to the windows 98 installation and run it from there but also the BSOD.

The BSOD may be caused by a wrong/not XP compatible USB 3/3.1 driver.

I’ve checked the BIOS and played with the settings. But when USB 3.0/XHCI is disabled and legacy mode is enabled I still got the same issue.:expressionless_face:

Try to boot off an optical drive disk (CD/DVD).

At this moment I have two optical drives. One IDE drive which I cannot connect (I only have SATA ports and no-converter) and one through USB. So through CD-ROM through USB can be an issue? I’ve created CD-R with Windows XP nlite, integrated driver. I can boot from the CD, the good thing is that this is slow, therefore can see the AHCI driver is loaded. But again it will give a BSOD.

This BSOD has nothing to do with the topic of this thread. If you got an 0x000000A5 error, it is the XP in-box acpi driver, which doesn´t match your system.

With F7 I can bypass this right? Then I got 0x00000007B

Or should I have a driver for this as well? This not completely clear. I see on the web X64 upgrade versions but I the 32-bit version.

You cannot expect any solution from my side. We do not offer modded hex-coded MS drivers.
Your specific problem (search for a working Intel AHCI driver) has been solved. All other problems have nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

Off topic:
In my opinion it is wasted time trying to get an absolutely outdated OS installed onto a much newer PC/laptop. It may work (with a lot of disadvantages), but it is very time consuming and may be even illegal (violation of Microsoft´s Copyright by modifying hex coded SYS files).

Thanks for your effort. I think I can make it work if I fix the ACPI issue. And otherwise I stick to my old retro PC’s.
