Can anyone make a custom IRST version 18.6.1.1016.2 driver for Windows 7 and 8? I can’t find any and I need it to run one of these on my Acer Aspire 5 (A515-56). Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
Why do you want to run an outdated OS on a modern Intel chipset system with VMD support?
Which are the HardwareIDs of your on-board Intel VMD Controller (should be listed within the “Storage Controllers” section of the Device Manager)?
Why do you want to use the old Intel RST VMD driver v18.6.1.1016 dated 07/23/2021?
Have you already tried to force the installation of the original Win10/11 driver by choosing the “Let me pick…” option, pressing the “Have Disk” button and navigating to the driver folder? Before you try that, you should set a “Restore Point” of your current configuration.

Well, I wanted to get Windows 7 working because I have a strong preference towards that operating system

I’m currently using Arch Linux as my operating system, but I wanted to switch to Windows 7 because, again, I genuinely prefer it, so I don’t have a way to know my HardwareID. The closest I can find is the model, which is 9a04

If there are newer IRST drivers I can use, I’d gladly use them, but if it works it wotks

Windows 7 doesn’t even wanna install without IRST drivers due to Windows Setup (and the PE too, I tried Diskpart) not recognizing the SSD. Even in Windows 10’s installation environment it didn’t recognize it, until I loaded the IRST drivers

Look into the BIOS regarding the Storage Controller configuration. If you should find the option to disable “RST”, choose it. Afterwards you will be able to install the desired OS in IDE mode without the need of any third party storage driver.
