I’ve tried to basically port over this BIOS to my board: GitHub - Dok-T/MS-7883: MSI X99A Godlike Gaming BIOS Mod + Schematics
By ONLY replacing setupdata & AMITSE, I’ve managed to make the BIOS bootable to Windows but accessing the BIOS at all (DEL key @ startup) makes my screen go black and displays Q-Code bb (reserved for future AMI codes).
If someone is able to provide me a modded BIOS with unlocked settings, IntelRCSetup and possibly even updated OROM/Microcode Firmware (Broadwell-E), that would be fantastic!
What would be EVEN BETTER though, is if someone could help me with modding my own BIOS, cause this is a learning experience for me too and I’d love to know how I could do it myself
Thats a request that requires a bit of time of a user…
You shouldn’t set ALL those settings to user, that’s one of the cause(s) of the black screen accessing bios, unhide ONLY what is needed.
I realize that it would take some time!
That’s why I asked if someone might be able to guide me on the parts I get stuck, would rather do it myself and learn from the process if possible
Also, I ported over ONLY the setupdata, ReBAR FFS module and AMITSE from the modded X99A Godlike BIOS from DokT. (flashing his whole modded BIOS didn’t work because of a mismatch in BIOS name/version, I would get an error in M-Flash that the BIOS is not for this board)
I didn’t make any changes in AMIBCP to any of those files (e.g. change visibility).
Then flashed it to my mobo and I could boot into Windows but getting into the BIOS causes the black screen.
I wanted to try his modded BIOS on the off chance it would work but it only partly works so I’m now attempting to mod the stock BIOS for my board and adding in all of the features DokT did but I’m getting stuck on both making hidden options visible and on how to add IntelRCSetup.
I confirmed that modding my BIOS does actually work because I’ve unlocked 2 hidden settings in the CPU Features submenu settings. Game Boost Temp and a setting related to S3 wake event. Now to actually do the rest…
