[Request] NVMe mod Intel DQ77KB BIOS

Hi

I have this board, the DQ77KB. Intel is no longer hosting a page to download the bios updates but someone on github is hosting the latest:

I did a search for this motherboard on the forums and could not find a modded bios for it.

Also read the guide on how to perform this mod and although it does not seem that complicated, Intel .BIO files are not as easy to mod i’ve read. I can’t insert anything anywhere in UEFItool.

If someone wants to take a look at this, there’s a lot of skilled modders here that would certainly run circles around me modding that!

Thanks

But surely you read that its not a “regular” AMI bios, besides its code base is.
Several mods and NVMe on intel boards on the forum, you’ll notice that most of them have to be flashed using a CH341A spi programmer… look for them and you’ll get a the “picture”

The file to mod has to be a dump, not the intel bios file 061, the last one.

Hi

Well it’s been more than a year since i posted this request. At the time i did not have a CH341 programmer and i thought it would be much more complicated than it really is to dump bios chips. That the easiest part actually, the modding is on another level…

So i dumped 2 Winbond chips, a 25q64 and a 25q32.

My request was for adding NVMe if possible at all. And i also have a question about an option in the bios regarding dGPU and the 4X slot in the motherboard. The option to select between the iGPU and dGPU as primary video device is grayed out. Is it something that can be fixed?

Thanks for any help.

@IntelModder

Is this correct?
BIOS Version 0051 - KBQ7710H.86A.0051.2013.0329.1350
Why not a request but with latest bios 061…makes sense right?

Ha yes it would be better that way! I thought i was at latest bios already. I will upgrade and redump the chips.

Thanks

Ok i updated to the latest bios and re-dumped the 2 chips.

I think I’ve never done an Intel board NVMe mod…as far i can remember…but since you have backups and a programmer i think you’re safe to test anything.
The most experienced user with these bioses, usually is @IntelModder

Here’s the 061 NVMe, since it was only NVMe DXE insertition i think you only need to program back this W25Q32BV as it contains the DXE drivers volume and the new NVMe, mcodes and ME are in the W25Q64FV and were not touched.

Follow Fernando’s guide for verification/clean OS install on #4 and report back for future user guidance, please.

If it works, optionaly you can later manually update the ME FW v8 (5Mb) to the latest 8.1.72.3002

Well it works!!! Thank you very much! I can now see the NVMe drives appear in the bootable devices.

Thank you for your report, enjoy the “new” life to the system and the excellent Intel 7 chipset.
