Bricked my asus ROG GA402XV, anyone have a bios for me to manually flash?
The Asus updates do contain a complete firmware image?
Anyway- make a valid(!) dump of your old firmware before writing to the chip!(!!)
(Some newer AMD firmware seem to be unable to work when flashed as stock image)
This might not be any help, but ā¦
Download the lastest BIOS from ROG Zephyrus G14 (2023) | Gaming Laptopsļ½ROG - Republic of Gamersļ½ROG Global, run the setup - donāt install but only extract , then the file are extracted The ā.318ā file contains data.
- MCE, GitHub - platomav/MCExtractor: Intel, AMD, VIA & Freescale Microcode Extraction Tool actaully decodes the contents as BIOS
- UEFItool also decodes it as BIOS aswell (AMI Aptio capsule), but it complains about non UEFI data and other violations.
I did extract a rom file with uefitool, ill try to dump my old bios manually and somehow replace its settings with my extracted bios since one setting is bricking my laptop
I just donāt know how to do that lmfao
If itās just āone settingā then it might be ājustā NVRAM which could be solved probably if you get a valid dump.
cmos clear doesnt fix it, ill post the dump later
GA402XV possible bios.zip (933.7 KB)
Took this from a winbond 25q16DW chip, not sure if its the bios though
Wrong IC or partial firmwareā¦2048Kb fileā¦
looks like an EC or most likely NVIDIA RTX 4060 Mobile vBios.
Look around or post mb screens.
wrong ic, unfortunately my soic8 cant quite reach the real ic
Any tips for cutting off the plastic tips?
Well i donāt see why this whole is an obstacle? What kind of probe are you using?
Itās still a WSON packageā¦
The IC reference model is not visible in an OUT of FOCUS imageā¦
EDIT: This IC cant be probed with a normal SOIC8 clip⦠it may be desoldered as option.
EDIT: Its a 1.8v IC voltageā¦case you didnāt researchedā¦
the hole has a raised platform around it, ic is winbond W25R256JW(EQ)
photo is abysmal quality but its the best i could get, sorry
EDIT: I am using a 1.8v adapterā¦
You need a āpogo pinā adapter (and a steady hand) or you have to desolder the chip. The pogo pin adapter comes in different widths according to the different WSON types (6mm, 8 mm, ā¦)
