Hello all, I also have T450 with same latest bios version.
@Maxvios pls let me know if bios from
Sweet Kitten worked.
I have checked original image and there is Bios Guard in action which is covering by signature some bios parts, there are also Bios Lock 0xDC in action and there are also Protected ranges of registers wich are locked by FLOCKDN effectively.
Which is meaning that nobody won’t be flashing anything by the software (fpt).
There is small window if someone can exploit S3bootscript vulns, than is chance to change this locks, but I checked this script by Chipsec and it is protected by SMM plus it doesn’t includ FLOCKDN setting at all.
There is just one possibility and this is Bios downgrade there

But it didn’t worked for me because of some strange DOS errors .
Hello everyone
For me the bios provided by @Sweet_Kitten work fine, I would like to know how to do it by myself
@DaCou What kind of modification do you want to make to the BIOS?
Hello @maxvios ,
i am curious, was you flashing mod with programmer? Because as I wrote, there is no way to flash bios by software
I am interested in downgrade microcode patch to version 0 and than overclocking CPU with Throttlestop.
I am sure I can mod this bios my self because I know where to find these locks but sadly my programmer got broken and I am kind of lazy to buy a new
What does there mean EDID ? Is it regarding to change wifi card?
There are some mods to get off from whitelist on the internet but I never tryd this. Is it worth to change wifi card?
Thanks and sorry for bad english
@Sweet_Kitten No No, I was actually forgetting type of my machine (E540), so
I’ve been commenting on the wrong place here.
Regarding my machine, there clearly isn’t room ror modification without programmer involved or without downgrading Bios to 2014.
I’ve always wanted to try to bypass Phoenix secure flashing. Would you like to be part of my selfish plan?
No problem man
What I found today: MSR 0xce bit [35] is set which mean PFAT (Bios guard feature is available)
MSR 0x110 PLATFORM_FIRMWARE_PROTECTION_CONTROL) bit [0] is set which mean the register is locked BUT bit [1] isn’t set which means Bios guard isn’t enabled which is cool.
Unfortunately I tried grub method to change setup variables but with no luck, it appeared that variable are protected. From variables I could bypass all locks no problem than. Do you have some grub files which are supposed to work for Phoenix?
Create a separate thread please.
GRUB and programs like this are universal. But I am thinking of using official update utilities to flash the BIOS, because I do not see any possibility of changing the variables.
