So a complete rookie here, tried pushing my luck and accidentally set a voltage on the cpu without the frequency using SCREWIN and now the laptop doesn’t work.
Things I’ve observed:
Laptop lights up, leds, keyboard lights up. Though just a blackscreen.
Doesn’t POST, nor able to access the BIOS
Fans spin
Things I’ve tried:
EC Reset (Holding power button for 30s)
CTRL + R combo seems to make the screen glow up, but thats where it ends.
Letting it run on for 30 minutes (no results)
I got into this mess since the CPU on this laptop (6900HX), will always cause BSODs due to broken C-States or some core going idle. I’ve been trying for the past half year to fix this issue though to no avail aside from letting the laptop run at performance mode 24/7. I got to know how to use UMAF and SCREWIN though neither did have the options to fix the issue, though I did find a hidden set of settings within an “Advanced” page that cant be changed (it has the UEFI Runtime VariableProtection enabled).
I ordered an BIOS Programmer and it should arrive within a week or so, I dont have or know how to do soldering.
Is there any other solutions that can be recommended? I know I messed things up but any help is appreciated.
With the programmerr you’ll have to dump/read the IC(s) of the mb, save them.
The possible data still recoverable in the dump will be appended to Asus new bios file to program.
Share the dumps if you want for further analysis.
Provide the correct labels/info of the model/motherboard, etc
Try to find the schematic/boardview of the mboard, identify ICs and their specs/voltage.
What kind ICs package SOIC8/SOP8 or WSON8, this will tell you the right contact clip needed.

2Mb should be the vbios IC, share any readings if you want them to be analyzed
Well i dont know the ref. of your motherboard, dont know if i have any schematic/boardview for it…
Since the laptop is opened, you can contribute to the scene by sharing some detailed good quality photos and detailed ID’s info.
This is an AMD platform with an RTX, there should be one more IC besides the main bios, next to the GPU for its vbios…and the rest i can’t help more for now.
They just pop-up from everywhere??? Now it’s W74M25JW…
Sir… i dont know what chip that is or where it’s located or what’s content data, didn’t you understand that i dont have that laptop model with me and i dont have enough info from your system to cleary identify it???.. you’re in a forum in remote chat!!! Unbelievable…
