[SOLVED] Asus P9x79 deluxe (4801)

Anybody been able to boot from m.2 drive? I’ve gotten the old NVME modded bios and able to detect it in bios as: PM: SATA… but unable to boot and I have the yellow “this motherboard can’t boot, press F1 to go into bios” uefi warning. Just wondering if anybody tried clover or certain BIOS settings to get it to work.

Have you tried the 3 NVME modules from ASRock Z87 Extreme3 instead?

Well got it working. I tried AOMEI backupper (old version) since I had success transferring ssd to raid 0 ssd in the past (windows 10 OS). But no luck, Tried windows backup thingy as well as disk imaging as well as samsung’s built in migration tool. Nothing work. Found on Linustechtips forum that a guy was able to do it via reformating his NVME drive into GPT. Did it as well, even with the extra drives around I was able to install OS on the NVME (I had errors before) something akin to “Can’t install this drive since windows ??? drive controller”… But yea monkeying around bios and all that. All I needed to do was delete the NVME drive and leave it blank as GPT for windows to install, since it was already detected cuz of modified bios from the old (ROG Asus bios post).

Anybody want screenshots of my bios setting please ask if you guys want.
