This is something I have been thinking about for a long time, but I was always too afraid of actually doing it, until I found the valuable information on this site.
For others with the same motherboard: I successfully updated my (more than 4 years old) MSI P45 Neo3-FR PCB v1.0 (MS-7514, BIOS v1.A) with the following modules:
- Intel RST OROM 12.7.0.1936
- JMB36x RAID ROM 1.07.28
- Realtek 8168 LAN ROM 2.56
