Hi guys,
In my failed attempt to update the cpu microcodes in Supermicro C2SBX+ motherboard, I flashed it with corrupt bios and motherboard does not boot anymore, it’s a Phoenix bios and the chip is sst25vf016b (2048KB size),
so I connected the bios chip to LPT port according this guide: http://rayer.g6.cz/elektro/spipgm.htm
and the spipgm flash tool detects the chip and everything works fine but every bios I have found for this motherboard is slightly bigger than 2048KB and it doesn’t fit in the chip,
I also asked Supermicro for smaller bios but they don’t have such a thing.
does anyone know how to reduce the bios size or is there a workaround for this.
Thank you.
Hi, it works perfect. I can’t believe it the extra bytes are actually dummy data.
Thank you very much.
No problem, enjoy the resurrected system. The data at the end (> 0x200000) is probably relevant to the flasher or similar. Not needed when using a programmer though.
