How to Fixing Trackpads: Manual | Getting Started With ACPI 2 of Windows 7 operating system not Mac OS

Thank you very much

@BlackRoser hi

I explained you just have to change that one line in SSDT-XOSI from Darwin to Windows 2009. In the example laptop they show the touchpad is only enabled on Windows 8 and above so it’s likely you have same issue too.

You’ll need to setup OpenCore or another bootloader which can do ACPI patching and SSDT injection.

Let me Try It.

Thanks

This should work on any laptop where the touchpad doesn’t work under Windows 7, such as the Dell Precision 7530. You may even get a 0x07E BSOD when attempting to install the Intel HID Event Filter Driver under 7 (at least in my case). The problem is, I can barely understand how to gear this towards Windows instead of Hackintosh. This should, in my opinion, get the touchpad working under Windows 7 on my Dell Precision 7530. Any help on gearing that guide to Windows is greatly appreciated!

@Moline You will still need to setup a bootloader which can add SSDTs and apply _OSI → XOSI patch such as OpenCore or Clover. I don’t recommend replacing the whole DSDT using testsigning because it can cause issues.

Only the second part of the guide “Enabling trackpad” has to be done Fixing Trackpads: Manual | Getting Started With ACPI

In SSDT-XOSI.dsl change If (_OSI ("Darwin")) to If (_OSI ("Windows 2009")), this will trick DSDT into believing it’s running on Windows 11 (or whatever the newest version DSDT uses) enabling trackpad and any other features that were disabled for Windows 7.
