Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 8700, IDE ATA/ATPI Controller HW ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C02&CC_0106 set to run in AHCI in BIOS.
Fresh win xp: Windows_XP_Professional_64-bit
Down load Universal 64bit Intel RST textmode driver v11.2.0.1006 mod & digitally signed by Fernando< (>MIRROR<)
Do the following: fresh win xp copy in a folder → point with nlite to folder → enabled drivers and bootable iso → chose single driver → pointed to Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family Desktop SATA AHCI Controller DEV_8C02 (added by Fernando) → created iso image -->burn cd with Nero
When boot up from CD, it failed on iaStor.sys corrupted. I did several burn CDs, they all failed at same place.
The Guide is clearly written. Did I miss anything?
@ petchang1:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
This message usually indicates, the the architecture (32/64bit) of the textmode driver doesn’t match the architecture of the OS.
Questions:
1. Are you sure, that you have inserted the 64bit variant of the Intel RST driver (please check the size of the file iaStor.sys, it has to be 556 KB)?
2. If yes, are you sure, that you used the 64bit version of Windows XP as source (please check the folders)?
Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)
Thanks.

It was 556KB. 64bit variant.
I re-download Windows XP PROFESSIONAL SP3 Jan 2015 + SATA Drivers [TechTools.net] from kickass/to.
Integrate it with (1) Universal 32bit Intel RST AHCI & RAID driver v11.2.0.1006 mod & signed by Fernando, burn a cd. Then integrate it with (2) Universal 64bit Intel RST AHCI & RAID driver v11.2.0.1006 mod & signed by Fernando and burn another cd.
Both boots failed with same iaStor.sys corrupted message. Do any one know this has been tried on XPS 8700 HW?
Thanks.
Hi, Fernando,
In Dell XPS 8700, CD-ROM is connected to SATA 2. ATA mode can only choose AHCI and RAID mode. My HDDs do not support RAID mode. AHCI is the only mode can select. When window xp is boot from CD, will this cause problem? XPS 8700 supports booting from USB. Should I build bootable win xp with AHCI driver integrated on USB?
Thanks.
If you want to successfully integrate any textmode driver into a Windows XP or XP x64 CD, you have to use an untouched (=original) OS CD as source.
Yes, but you should use an untouched Windows XP image as source and not an ISO file, which has already been customized by you or someone else.
Thanks.
Using USB stick as bootable device was suggested in your guide.
I do not have original OS CD. For so many downloadable window xp, how do I check which one is untouched?
Thanks
I am sorry, but we do not support the installation of pirated Operating Systems.
