x WD Velociraptor 1TB WD1000DHTZ in RAID 0?

Hi guys,

I have just bought two WD Velociraptor 1TB WD1000DHTZ Hard Drives second hand to RAID them together to use as a drive for frequent big read and write like rar achieving, etc big sized files.

The reason why I went for the fastest normal Hard Drives is because it is not recommended to do frequent big writes on SSD as this can degrade the SSD drives lifespan quite quickly.

I have read that WD Velociraptor drives had issues when configured in RAID. Is this still the case today and does the WD1000DHTZ models have any issues running in RAID or has Western
Digital update the firmware of these drives ages ago to cure the issue?

The guy I bought them from had said to me that he bought them brand new just under a year ago.

Thank you in advance for responding.

Since I don’t have any experience with these HDDs running in RAID mode, I cannot answer your question.
