XP/Win2k3 64-bit Will Not Install on asus z97-A with i7-4790k processor

Hi all. I’ve been trying for some time now to install Windows Server 2003 64-bit on my machine. I downloaded the ISO from the microsoft website and used nLite to slipstream Fernando’s driver onto it, I am absolutely certain that I used the 64-bit driver and chose the correct device ID when slipstreaming the driver as I just now tried doing the whole process over again from scratch.

I burned the ISO to dvd and I double checked that everything in the BIOS was set to Legacy mode, then booted the disc and started to install. Just after everything has loaded and the installation says “Setup is starting…” I get a BSOD with 0x000000A5 (BIOS not ACPI compliant).

I’ve browsed all around this forum for solutions, apparently this can be caused by trying to install from USB, but I’m using a disc, so I don’t think that’s relevant. A possible solution offered to someone else was to press F6 (or was it F7?) at startup, but when I tried this it simply opened a dialogue with the options: ACPI Uniprocessor x64, ACPI Multiprocessor x64, and Other. The ACPI options led to the same BSOD, and the “Other” option prompts to insert a floppy with drivers.

Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong here? I’d really like to be able to have XP64 on this system, a VM really wont cut it for me.

EDIT: It just occurred to me that the system already has win2k8 on it, I really can’t imagine why, but could this have anything to do with my issue? I intend to only have win2k3/XP on this system once it installs, so if someone can confirm that this is the issue I’ll format and try installing again. I’m currently using the system, though, so I’d rather not format it as an experiment right now.

@MrMister :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

You should check the BIOS settings regarding ACPI.
If this shouldn’t help, I recommend to press F5 when prompted to press F6 and test all given options.

No, the currently installed OS has nothing to do with your ACPI problem while trying to get W2k3 x64 installed.

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Hmm. There’s nothing related to ACPI in the bios as far as I can tell, unless Turbo/Speedstep would be the problem. Most/all of the power management settings are disabled.

The options that come up when I press F5 are the same as the ones I described in my first post, nothing came of them, but here are some images in case something is unusual about them. I read another thread somewhere on this forum where someone described having more options there.
