Z97x AHCI problems

searching driver for ahci I found this great fórum

Mobo = GIGABYTE z97x-UD3H-BK
HD = Seagate ST1000DM 003-9YN162C

I have Problem when enable AHCI.
It works well except when there is a disk usage.
Example:
1- if I’m watching a movie and my antivirus scan disk, then the video freezes or does not respond for seconds.
2- any use of disk slows start any app or explorer windows.
3- I can force this problem playing a movie and running two windows CrystalDiskMark same time, for test all drivers.

I remember in my old PC dont have this problema.
Old Mobo= asus P5Q PRO P45 ICH10

If i change to IDE mode It works perfect without freezes or slow. testing run antivirus, movie and two Windows CrystalDiskMark all same time and perfect

Test driver ver:
Default Windows
64bit Intel RST AHCI & RAID driver v11.2.0.1006 WHQL
DriverVer=04/03/2014,13.0.3.1001
64bit Intel RSTe AHCI & RAID drivers v13.2.4.1000 WHQL
64bit Intel RSTe AHCI & RAID drivers v13.5.2.1000 WHQL
64bit Intel RSTe AHCI & RAID drivers v13.6.3.1001 WHQL
64bit Intel RSTe AHCI & RAID drivers v14.5.0.1081 WHQL

This is normal in the z97x chipset?

THX

Sorry my english

@ duna3:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Not all all!
Your problem has nothing to do with the chipset of your mainboard and nothing to do with the used AHCI driver. Otherwise the web would be full of similar issue reports.
My suggestion: Check your hardware (HDD, Memory, PSU, CPU etc.).

thx 4 reply

Hd test CrystalDiskMark3_0_2c:
Sequencial read 190MB write 180MB

CPU= i5 4690k normal in all benchmarks
RAM = G.skill 2x 8GB F3-2400C10-4GTX normal in all benchmarks
PSU = 800w nox
Test in Windows 7 64bits 2 years isntall and windows 7 64bits new install
All dirvers install from mmc.exe never instal software

I have to say that the anti-virus scan run on the same disk but partition different than the movies.
Same disk C: = system OS and apps D: = data, movies and music
I do not understand is how in IDE mode works perfect for more disk load there. With what should discard hardware CPU, RAM, hd and just left mobo damaged, bus, chipset, controller.

Thanks again

Maybe the Intel SATA AHCI Controller itself does not work correctly.
