I’m really happy to find this community where i can learn a lot.
Maybe, now, some expert can give a definitive answer to a question that i’ve never solved anywhere.
I have an old motherboard, according to AIDA64, named QDI PlatiniX 2E with this bios info:
Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG
P6I845E PlatiniX-2E BIOS V1.4SLCP Nov.07,2002
BIOS date 11/12/02
Is it possible that in no update of that bios was ever released in so many years and the the only version ever made is the one born with that MB?
Thank you for attention.
@drifok :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
No, there are newer BIOS versions available for the P6I845E PlatiniX-2E mainboard.
By a simple Google search I found for the related BIOS a version, which has been released at 24. September 2003 (look >here<) and even a newer one released at 13th January 2005 (look >here<).
Hoping, that it helps

@drifok
There are indeed newer BIOS versions for your exact model (2E and not 2D, 2I, Pro, 333 etc). Check THIS page out preserved by the magical WayBackMachine. The latest BIOS is v2.2 from 05-06-2003 and can be downloaded via WayBackMachine’s cache. A more readable changelog can be found here.
P2E BIOS.rar (1.14 MB)

Thank you for welcome and quick response. Indeed in past sometimes i’ve just searched for a new driver but, for some reasons, i didn’t trust the sources cause i’ve never found a newer bios version directly linked to manufacturer. Now with your precious advices i can approach to this operation with greater confidence!
I’m very grateful for your support
Really elegant solution the waybackmachine, thank you!! i’ve just realized that i can’t download from the ba+ links (i’m not a member), so it’s a smart workaround!
In theory, can i update straight to the last version (2005) or is it better a smoother path thru the 2003 and then lastest version?
That last one for your board is from 2003, not 2005. Update to the latest v2.2 release and it should be ok.
i was referring to the last chronological version sponsored out by Fernando…
…but as i previously said it’s not so easy to recover it.
Going on for the '03… let’s see what happen
If you check the link Fernando posted, it says "2E Pro" which is not the same as bare "2E". Not the same model.
Thank @plutomaniac you’re strongly right, didn’t noticed it. Despite I haven’t much knowledge to exclude that last suggested Fernando’s bios could be harmful i prefer to minimizing risks
Unfortunately i didn’t test new bios yet: can’t imagine how can be frustatrating finding a floppy diskette nowadays
Maybe I’ll obtain it for tonight, do you think is it good idea to unplug something from motherboard (USB Flashdrive, USB2 PCI EXPANSION, Videoboard, Wi-Fi PCI?)
No, it should be ok. Check that readme from the OEM just in case.
I searched for a bios update of this MB, i have 2.2 and watching back i found this https://web.archive.org/web//http://www…bios/platinix/ where a 2.3 appears.
Can someone post it?
