Hello,
is there anyone using an ssd + trim in a pc with SATA 3.0?
is it true that the whole system freezes when the os is trimming the ssd? (because of the lack of queued trim support, SATA 3.1+)
i’m just curious because i have sata 3.0 and a dying hdd
@kyl :
I have used a lot of different SSDs for a quite long time and never had any freezing while trimming them.
Thanks
On a SATA 3.0 pc?
Because it should stop any read/write operation to trim the SSD according to 3.0 specs ?? Unless recent SSDs have a workaround/own solution for that when the sata version is 3.0 or just to increase performance on any sata revision.
What is your SSD, and are you on the latest FW? What operating system are you using too? Some older SSD maybe only use garbage collection, or older OS, which can freeze a little sometimes. Same applies with some FW, some older firmware had freezing issues on certain SSD’s
samsung 860 pro
windows 10 and arch
this is an old laptop (Q2 2011)
afaik there are no updates for this SSD
What is a SATA 3.0 PC?
According to my knowledge all modern PCs do support the SATA Revision 3.x (6 Gb/s / SATA 600) specification.
