AHCI & RAID Option ROM Modules

as-ssd-bench Intel Raid 0 Vol 03.08.2015 23-03-25.png

OK

I have a few questions :

1. Upload new firmware SATA/RAID will not damage the acting raid ?

2. My system Windows 10 Pro x64 , controller RAID v 14.6.0.1029 date 27.07.2015

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2822 and firmware v 11.5.0.1582

Which version is best for i Z77 chipset ?

Usually it will not.

To be on the safe side, I would insert the Intel RAID ROM v13.1.0.2126 into the BIOS and install the Intel RAID driver v13.1.0.1058 WHQL.

Unfortunately something wrong :frowning:
1. Open MMTools β†’ Load Image β†’ Open E7751IMS.AB0 , file loaded OK .
2. Replace β†’ Browse β†’ Open 8086-2822_v13102126.bin β†’ Link Present at 8086,282a β†’ Replace , OK
3. Save Image as β†’ new.fd

The length of each file is the same . ( 8 388 608 bits )
When trying to load a new bios, the computer freezes.
Upgrade I tried to upload the BIOS (Utility , pendrive )

What am I doing wrong ?

PS. BIOS orginal 10.11

  1. Did you ckeck "For Option ROM only" before starting the Option ROM module replacement?
    2. Have you renamed the modded BIOS to the original name before trying to flash it?

Ad.1 Yes . Link Present Vendor 8086 Device ID 282a β†’ MMTool "Option ROM with Vendor ID and Device ID exists"

Ad.2 Renamed modded BIOS ,to the original name.

Inclusive its original extension?

Yes . File renamed to the E7751IMS.AB0

I’ll try again tomorrow.

Found a newer 12.7 oROM with version 12.7.5.1988. Apart from version, it seems to be identical to 12.7.0.1936. Someone can test it though and report back.

8086-2822 Intel RST RAID 12.7.5.1988.rar (62.9 KB)

@plutomaniac
@Fernando

Yes , it works !

Now try the same with the newer version?

So you obviously succeeded now. What was wrong previously?

Which "newer" version do you mean?

This v13.1.0.2126

It seems to me that I was doing the same .
I will try again.

Thank you the report dmgary. Based on the picture, he meant that the newer 12.7.5.1988 oROM I attached yesterday works as expected.

Ok .
There is some error in mainboard MSI Z77A-GD65 ver.2.1 .

I did pendrive dos boot and upgade bios for dos .
It works !
ROM 14.5.0.2241
DRV 14.5.0.1081
I do not know which version did not work 13.x.x.xxxx , after installing version 13, bios very very slow to boot .

According to my own test results I doubt, that the v14.x.x.xxxx Intel RAID driver/ROM combo is the best for your system.

I bet, that this issue had another origin.

So try to go back to version 13.1.0.2126 ?
Maybe do some tests now?

So try to go back to version 13.1.0.2126 ?

It is your decision.
Just for your information: The Intel RST(e) drivers and RAID ROM v14 series has been designed for the brandnew Intel 100-Series Chipsets and not for the "old" Intel 7-Series Chipsets.

Thanks for help.

I went back to version 13.1.0.2126 RST(e) ROM - Ok

Drivers
Intel recommends drivers for Windows 10 x64 v.14.5.0.1081

Do not worry about this and install 13.1.0.1058 WHQL?

That is nonsense, beccause your chipset is not fully supported by the v14 series Intel RST drivers. All older Intel RST drivers are running fine with Windows 10.

There is no reason to worry about it.

Ok .

DRV 13.1.0.1058 installed .

Now it’s time for tests .

Thanks again for your help

I have a Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 Mobo. I was able to replace update to orom to V13.5.0.2164 in original bin file and flashed successfully.
Now I replaced orom in original bin file with v14.5.0.2241 and flash BIOS. However when I look in the BIOS it still shows v13.5.0.216.
Can mobo orom be updates to v14.5.0.2241. Thanx
