interesting. I’ll try it with micron dimm.
Do you have any good documentation about timing and voltage for these RAM? I have no idea about these.
Edit: I rebooted and reseated the CPU several time, no help with these memory thingy. It also happens with 8 sticks, 4 sticks,… One thing makes me confused is it CAN recognize dimm KLM in first few boots…
@dkatkr - Sorry, I can’t really help advise about the memory voltages, settings, timings etc.
Try with older BIOS as I mentioned above, and see if issue persists. Since it’s happening with less memory too, I lean more towards setting or memory compatibility than a BIOS specific or CPU specific issue.
Thanks. I’ll dig into it and report the result here.
Hi!
I am ready to work on a Gigabyte C621-WD12 to allow B0 stepping.
Reading throughout this forum seems like it should be similar to the Asus.
One single thing I don’t quite understand.
If I am modding the same bios that’s on the motherboard, will I have ME problems?
Appreciate all your work guys.
Thanks
Works great
Hello I allow myself to posted on your forum I find myself in a situation where I have 8 CPUS and none starts on my Asus Pro WS c621-64L SAGE I have tried several CPUS of QL1M, QL1H, QL27, and an SR3B0 and currently I ordered a QKRQ I would like to be able to start at least one big process with the QL1M the processor shows me the error code 61

Hi @Irgen
I am late to the party here and new to this forum, but have the exact same issues with the exact same processors (QL2K) and board re #322. Firstly, apologies if I am not observing correct forum etiquette with this reply (ignorance is my excuse).
My on-board Power LED remains RED constantly, no pins are bent and it does not seem to matter whether it is single or dual configuration.
My question to you is did you establish whether this was a board or ES chip issue (QL2K is simply not going to work on this board)?
@Lost_N_BIOS , copying you in for info, since it may look like the QL2K simply can’t work on this board. Would defy probability that @Irgen and I have the same issues with board, should board be faulty, while the chips appear the same and the ebay seller you guys were discussing indicated his bios mod would not work specifically with this chip.
Your BIOS mod flashed fine and I assume to be working perfectly per the large number of positive response to this. Since the flash utility is working on-board, this makes me lean towards the QL2K being the issue?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice you guys can give.
Yes i was unable to get ql2k to work on this board. Had better luck with ql1k.
Thank you so much for the quick response. That’s what I thought would be the outcome.
You roll the dice, you lose sometimes.
The comments within this thread have been invaluable though, generally, so maybe not a complete loss on this little gamble.
Does anyone tried this mod with newer Xeon Platinum 82XX ES Btw? Seen some of those on Ebay.
Hello
I bought a Xeon Platinum 8124M SR37R with cpu id 50653 and didnt work on c621 cage with any bios in this thread.please help me,thanks
I have been looking around recently, and as far as I am aware, they will not work. I have not empirical evidence of this, but I have seen many sellers listing boards that work with the 82xx and this is not one of them. The same sellers list the Asus C621e as a board that works for the QL1s, for example, which requires a Mod, as we know.
From this, I conclude they probably will not work, since this board is otherwise included in the ones that we know do work with the Mod, by the same sellers.
Might be wrong, but I suspect it would be 500 or so down the tube for a dual setup. My advice would be not to do it, in the absence of any confirmation, anywhere else.
If I’m not mistaken here, could the issue be the power requirement of the chips? - I think these have 240W requirement, whereas the board gives 204W in the technical specifications.
Hi, there.
I’m a novice to modify BIOS.
I have a gigabyte c621-sd8 board and two ql1ls, I have read all these posts.
I followed Lost’s explanations about asus c621e sage.
I extracted microcode from mod asus c621e sage bios (5503)
.
gigabyte c621-sd8 bios(F7) are modified with recent UBU tool and above extracted microcode.
CH341A programmer is used for rom flashing.
the result is perfectly working. thanks everyone in this post.
debian buster is installed in this mod bios machine.
legacy booting was failed by edd=off and OS writing problem, but UEFI booting is successful.
I couldn’t link my mod, because I’m a new member. I have to make 3 posts, ~~;

I am also facing the same problem. I changed BIOS settings as posted by @Morockin but CPUs won’t go beyond 2 Ghz.
Using latest BIOS (11/20/20) with 8160 QL1K ES.
Do I need to make some changes to OS (Ubuntu), too?
Hi
I have 2 Xeon Platinum 8124M QS QMQ1 CPUID 050654h.
New motherboard “Asus W621E Sage” never used, I insert bios 6201 modified via flashback. "All Ok flashed"
I install Cpus and waterblocks
As soon as I turn on the power supply, the motherboard starts up without clicking any buttons and gives me error 00
QMQ1 is not supported by the mod? … did I skip any steps? Should I use older mod?
I saw on the internet that these processors with some modification work and I thought they needed this modified bios. "I can’t post the site where I saw them because I’m too new"
I hope you can help me with the problem and thank you in advance for any advice.
@Lost_N_BIOS @mitdal369 since we’ve had an influx of people with compatibility problems, perhaps it would be a good idea to edit the first couple of posts with links to the latest BIOS and a list of known working CPUs?
Did any of you guys get the BMC up and running?
I have the ASMB9-IKVM chip installed on the board and I can configure it in the BIOS but it is not getting an IP via DHCP. I have also set the IP address manually. But it is ignored and the OS gets a different IP via DHCP after booting the system.
hello please upload C621E SAGE 6201 mod BIOS to Gooledriver
