Allow B0 stepping on Asus W621E Sage

@iCa - I checked what the b1 code might be, the manual says “Runtime Set Virtual Address MAP End” What that might mean is that whilst the uefi drivers are being put in memory something goes bananas.

What I picked up from forums about this error: If al 12 memory slots are filled take them all out an start with the bare minimum dimm slot configuration, if it’s b1 code again than use other dimms instead and try again…

Ok so i changed a bios setting called USB Precondition something to enable, and then it all booted fine!
THx for all support everyone!
Now to the next step, anyone have good settings for overclocking these beasts? :smiley:

Hey guys I have been trying to download the bios image from pretty much every post that had a version on tinyupload. I have been trying to weeks but the tiny upload and all provided mirror links don’t work. On top of that this forum seems to have been hacked to block out PM’s so its is very frustrating to get can anyone post a link. My board is an Asus C621E sage and I have a pair of QL1K’s. @Lost_N_BIOS please help provide a working link.

Huh. Looks like tinyupload has gone kaput.

Until Lost can re-upload the rest, here is the one with the memory timings override that I just happened to have saved to my local machine. I probably have the others on the fileserver at home, but I’m not there right now.

Hey,
did you try to use dual QL1L setup? Will it work?

Hello.
Tell me - will the Xeon Platinum QQ87 QS 8280 work? on ASUS WS C621E SAGE BMC

wrong topic but…
yes works.
QQ87 stepping A0 CPUID 50655
QQ87 is ES2 not QS.

Thank you.
Why not the right topic?

Allow (SKL) B0 stepping on ASUS W621E Sage, QQ87 is CLX A0

Hi guys, I bought an Asus Ws 621e sage, a pair of Xeon ql1l, 32gb of ddr4 rdimms, but my board is not doing anything, I bought it used but it had some bent pins, I tried to straight all of them in socket 1, but it didn’t do anything. I’ve tried with just one CPU, and nothing, my Psu is a Cooler master 850w, I need your help guys. It only turns on some green leds and when I turn on the PSU, a red led lights up for a brief second and a q code appears for also a brief second that says “no”.
Maybe my board is dead. Thanks Guys.

Ws 621e sage stock BIOS does NOT support SKL B0 ES like QL1L.
You need a modded BIOS, ask the seller of the QL1L processors or check ebay.com for "C621E sage bios mod"

and of course, the Board can be dead too…

Hello, I would like to test the bios mod on my WS C 621-64L Sage because I cannot find a bios mod for the latter the link no longer seems to be active can you tell me if it could have worked or else if this is risky i have an original xeon 8160 platinium and currently with the asus bios i block on error code 67 whatever i do, thanks in advance

Guys,

I have a weird problem with my my SAGE WS 621E. The CPU and memory are watercolled - no issues there. The big radiator in the middle of the motherboard is forcefully cooled by a 6 cm low-noise fan together with the drive in the nVME slot (the nVME drive shows 44 degrees). I downloaded the HWmonitor utility and I am getting constantly 99-102 degrees Celius on the following sensors:

- SYSTIN
- TMPIN3
- TMPIN5
- TMPIN6
- TMPIN8

What must I cool to get these temperatures down ? Please help as I do not find any reference to these sensors in the ASUS Manual. The case is cooled by 2 big fans (12 or 15 cm) - so there is a flow through the case. See the screen from HWMonitor:

Thanks for any help!

@Lost_N_BIOS

I am back again with a finding. It seems that my SAGE WS C621E never goes above the 30 W per CPU. At least that is what AIDA extreme burn test is reporting. No matter what I do with these ES CPUs (8160 Platinum) I can not get the VRMs even warm to the touch.

I have tried various overclocking options from th e BIOS, but still AIDA reports 30W power usage or less.
Either these ES CPUs are faulty, the board is faulty or the BIOS Mod is not working with these CPUs.
Has someone tested his modded mobo/CPU with AIDA and have seen that the total power per CPU really goes above 100W when loaded ?
Any kind of advice will be helpful as I am sto frustrated, that I will dump this board and switch over to Supermicro. ASUS has proven one more time to be a CRAP. I will never buy ASUS Mobo in my life!

Am wondering if there is a bios that exists or can be created to support chips like 8259CL or 8257CL or 8171M. Basically any off road map cpu that is 205 watts, relatively high core count and core base and turbo speeds. I am getting desperate trying to navigate cpu support for this board

Hello

I’ve modded the newest firmware (6605) so it will work with any ES CPU

https://www38.zippyshare.com/v/lMNBgWIv/file.html

It doesn’t contain the memory timings mod yet, feel free to add it and share it here.

Hello, it’s possible to add support for the xeon platinum 8175M processor SR3FU?

Sorry for my bad english.

@Lost_N_BIOS ,

When you have time, could you please patch bios Version 6605, dated 2021/06/25 here: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/BI…E-ASUS-6605.zip

I am running dual P-8136 CPU’s. Please let me know if you need any additional information? You last helped me and several people out on Post# 487

@cdsh009

No that’s not possible because the 8175M uses 240W and the W621E has a limit up to 205W.

I’ve asked resellers about this because I was thinking of buying the 8175M myself.
