AMD and Nvidia GOP update (No requests, DIY)

Nevermind. Fixed after renaming file, folder and reboot.

Maybe this has already been established but, i just wanted to share some info on a specific card, Asus ENGTX480/2DI/1536MD5
I bought it for almost no money in a second hand store, latest stock VBIOS, I downloaded GOPupd v1.9.6.5, dumped the VBIOS and loaded it in GOPupd and inserted the suggested GOP,
despite the warning in GOPupd about larger size i decided to flash the new ROM file, after finally finding the right nvflash the card was updated and is now working great as primary card in EFI mode, CSM disabled, in Win10

If anyone wants the specific file i used i can dump it, but using GOPupd of the same version on the latest stock VBIOS for it should produce the same file,
This info is of course just what worked in my case, i give no guarantees.

Also, thank you very much lordkag for this nifty util

I can report the same for a Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB OC2 I was using a few years ago. The rom size doubled from 60KB to 120KB but I think the chip was actually 128KB or something so it fit and worked with CSM disabled.

Same for my gtx550ti.From 60kb to 120kb and everything works great with CSM disabled

Hey, did not see it. There has been talks of AMD GOP 2.7.0.0 from some RVII, but I can not find it anymore.

Thanks a lot!

The EFI AMD GOP 2.7.0.0 has been taken from Uefi Bios Updater tool (UBU) and I suppose it is most suitable for integrated graphic cards
instead of dedicated ones but I can add it of course, if someone want to test it.

I am a little bit afraid that it would not be suited for vega 64, since it is taken from RVII. I am using 2.4.0.0 atm and it is working very well.

Have you got a valid Radeon VII bios dump ? Looking at UBU file it seems slightly different than standard uefi gop tables
but maybe I’m wrong.

Here is new GOP Updater (1.9.6.5.b) with 2.7.0.0.0 AMD EFI GOP Table inside.

Please someone test it and report feedback.

Hi everybody! I succesfully modded the non-UEFI vBIOS of my GTX 680 Zotac Amp! edition in order to solve a display issue I had with the logo screen and UEFI menu of my Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master board. If CSM was enabled, the screen was loaded slowly (after some seconds of a black screen with a blinking underscore) and viewed with a wrong resolution that cut it partially; with CSM disabled, the screen remained black up until Windows was loaded. After adding the GOP module, both the logo screen anf UEFI section of the motherboard are visible at the right resolution once CSM has been disabled. Everything is alright, but I’d like to ask a peculiar question: I’ve recently flashed a GTX 770 Amp! vBIOS (with a native UEFI support) on my 680, using commands -4 -5 -6 in nvflash in order to override PCI subsytem ID and Board ID mismatches. The update has proved itself to be beneficial both to the overall performance and to the fan management of the VGA, but the problem is that now the screen of my PC stays black until Windows is loaded, no matter if CSM is enabled or disabled, making UEFI unaccessible. Is there something I can do in order to see the mobo logo and the UEFI screen also with the 770 AMp! vBios, for example by editing the rom itself or the INF file of the Nvidia driver? I should point out that Windows still considers the card a GTX 680, even after the 770 bios has been flashed. and that I am using the latest 430.86 driver. Thanks in advance!

You could attach the GTX 770 Amp! vBIOS you’re going to use as well as a dump of your GTX 680 in order to properly comparing files
and see what’s wrong.

Thank you for the answer! I attached a rar containing both the original roms and the GOP-updated ones: the files named “GK104” are dumps of my 680’s vBIOS.

@Salve1412

Try these please.

GK104BIOS.zip (250 KB)

Thank you, I tried the files. Unfortunately nothing has changed: the GK104 BIOS works perfectly but when I flash the 770 one the screen stays black until I enter Windows. Any other idea? Thanks.

EDIT: Just an update. If I modify via a Hex editor the 770 rom so that the Board, Subsystem Device & Vendor IDs match the 680 ones, the logo screen and UEFI menu become in fact visible, but Windows can’t load the driver for the board: it shows a yellow exclamation mark under device manager pointing at an interruption of the device with error code 43. I already tried to completely remove the Nvidia driver and reinstall it with no luck.

I haven’t any other idea mate, I’m very sorry.

No problem, mate. Thanks a lot anways!

Edit: just a quick update. I noticed that the BIOS I edited via Hxd had a bad checksum. I fixed it with kgb and now Windows correctly loads the driver, so apparently everything is now working. Thanks again!

I update vbios with this newest GOP ,and everything works normal ,thanks Sylar76.

Glad to hear these news.

For which GPU?

I assume AMD card, maybe VEGA.
