You have to switch CSM off. Mostly/always GOP is only supported in UEFI-only-mode. Try also to secureboot on and off.
Try factory rom, i’m 100% sure it will support GOP, nearly all videocards from 2013 up have GOP-image; or in some cases st. like a dummy-image as placeholder.
Hi, you should have read one page back, I had the same problem TLDR, UEFI won’t work if you mod the bios, doesn’t matter if it’s fan changes, voltage, clock or anything. Just take latest vBIOS, and update the GOP, that’s it. For me, even if I overvolted, undervolted and used ANY freqs the GPU would crash, but I found out that I can OC just as fine as before without changing the voltages.
Well that sucks… having proper fan behavior > GOP Stock BIOS allows 0 RPM mode, this does not work with my cooling solution, 0 PWM = 100% fan and the idle speed is higher than necessary. i have no idea how to disable 0 RPM in linux now that it is supported without doing it in the vbios
If we can patch a vBIOS to have a valid sum check, change the GOP, what is there to prevent GOP from working with a modded vbios, it is not like it can just phone home and get approval
Can you dump and upload your current vbios from card? Simply click in GPU-Z the arrow left to UEFI-checkbox. Also a picture of the card and stickers can help.
I have trouble unpacking most of the latest version of the GOP Updater 1.9.6.5 I found. I successfully unpacked revision c, however I am getting an error message: "Python was not found; run without arguments to install from the Microsoft Store or disable this shortcut form Settings > Manage App Execution Aliasses." However I do have Python installed… Is there any way around this? I was not able to find any help on the GOP Updater itself.
Potentially I could also upload my GPU bios, which I have extracted from my Graphics Card. It is a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950. I am trying to get the UEFI option activated to be able to get Windows 11 compatibility.
If that was intended for me, thank you for your effort and the quick reply. Unfortunatley the link leads to a 403 Forbidden nginx error… A VPN did the trick. Thank you
In one of the last post in ‘UBU Tool related Questions, Reports and Suggestions’ version 2.18.0.17.10 of the EFI AMD GOP Driver was uploaded. Can someone convert the efi to efirom for use with Gop_upd?
My 1st question: are the instructions on Post #1, also the tool on #2, up to date? If not, where is the updated instruction/tool?
Anyway, I followed the instructions from the Post #1 and downloaded the tool from link on Post #2. Extracted the .rar file to a folder in root C:\UPD. Placed my VBIOS file there too (from GPU-Z dump). Then, drop the VBIOS file to GOPUpd.bat icon. Got an error in the batch window: " File not found …\python.exe".
I suppose it meant that I need to install Python. But that is not clear from the instruction.
Could someone clarify on this?
My video is cards: 1. MSI R7770 1GB PMD1GD5 2. XFX R7850 1GB
I downloaded the tool from page 86 (Post #1281). Ran it. Not sure if it was successful, since the msg is a bit confusing. It said “No EFI ROM found!”/“GOP is not present!!!”, but still allowed “to update GOP to latest available”. I’ve attached the Screen capture. Could you tell if it generated correct output? (I am patching XFX R7850 1GB card).
