I bet it would allow you to use a newer generation of cpu as long as its pin per pin compatible with your socket. Only one way to find out for sure!
Hi,
I have AsRock Z87 Extreme 4 mobo with Intel I217V NIC. When I tried to update lates 3.20 bios with UBU version 1.41, I got below error;
FYI
@ SoniX:
cpu000406E3_platC0_ver00000038_date#19-08-2015
cpu000506E2_plat14_ver0000002E_date#15-08-2015
uCPU.rar (165 KB)
Fixed in v1.41.1
Do not forget to sign up for any processor. Thank you.
Not sure I understand, probably lost in translation?
On Asus Z170 Deluxe, I manually replaced vbios, then used UBU for the rest of the modules. Actually it can’t replace Intel OROM, but just the EFI ffs; may someone point me to the correct GUID for manual replacing?
Another question, please: I tried replacing microcode, but bios has 3A/1E (2 times) while i get only the 4A (2 times) after replacement. Is this safe and correct?
Many thanks!
Hello!
Is this UBU version tool had been updated from v1.41 to v1.41.1 on the OneDrive redirected link?
Looks to me it’s still the previous v1.41…
Thanks again for the efforts made to bring this useful tool to us.
Regards.
@ N607:
Thank you very much for the info.
To be honest, I have just missed the UBU update from v1.41 to v1.41.1, whch was done by SoniX yesterday.
Now the OneDrive Mirror link is up-to-date as well.
Does someone know if replacing microcode is fine for Asus Z170 Deluxe bios? Thanks!
^
Just replaced microcode from 3a to 4a in latest BIOS 1203.
No problem.
How safe is it to run the UBU tool on an ASRock Z68M-ITX/HT BIOS?

It is very safe (nearly as safe as driving a car).
By the way: I have moved your post into the correct thread. The other thread is reserved for SoniX, the developer of the UBU tool.
Many thanks, I read your previous post, but I think Asus has a different bios structure: UBU finds a 3A and a 1E module, but I just get the 4A after replacement.
I would test it, I just want to be sure that flashback may reflash bios even if microcode is f****ed up.
there are both BDW / HSW microcode in the bios listed. but only one microcode either BDW or HSW left after updating. does that mean i have to know which cpu (BDW or HSW) Currently installed before updating microcode?
Yes.

@ SoniX: I know such microcodes are not part of UBU. Do you want me to upload here such uCodes or only those found at UBU?
cpu000306F4_plat80_ver00000009_date#17-07-2015.rar (14.1 KB)
OK, I can say that UBU worked succesfully on Asus Z170-Deluxe (+ some manual modding for legacy OROM and vbios module).
I am trying the UEFI Bios Updater for the first time. The CPU Microcode ver 1E for CPU Haswell is the latest, and in the updater it showes CPU Microcode ver 19 for CPU Haswell - version 19 Best for Overclocking.Since I overclock should I pick the 19 microcode dated 02-26-2014 or the latest microcode-1E-Dated 08-13-2014 .Just want to make shure I pick the right one before I flash my bios with the new modded bios.
Yes version 19 is best for overclocking on most boards.
