[ARCHIVE] Outdated UBU Tool related Questions, Reports and Suggestions

@propergo

Good. Now let’s do the last test.
For you, this link is an archive. It has 2 different versions of the file with the GOP Driver.
1) First, you need to flash the mod file from the folder "test1".

1

fptw64 -f gop1042_bios.bin -bios

2) Reboot, reset and chek UEFI mode screen.
If the UEFI mode, you will not be blank screen, then flashed the second file is not necessary.

If there is a blank screen, then sew the file from the "test2" folder.
1

fptw64 -f gop1039_bios.bin -bios

Reboot, reset and chek UEFI mode screen.

I want to understand what the problem is, in the GOP Driver or in the process updating. We look forward to testing results. :)

Well…sorry but unless I did something wrong none of the 2 works :frowning:

One note : flashing gop1042_bios.bin takes maybe 4 time longer than flashing gop1039_bios.bin

@ propergol
All is well. It is necessary to understand the problem in the GOP Driver or upgrade process, why it is a blank screen.

What are your results after the flashing gop1042_bios.bin?

The exact same result : CSM disabled = blank screen, CSM enabled = screen on and boot OK

I am currently running with gop1039_bios.bin flashed but I did boot with CSM enabled.

@ propergol

I wanted to ask, what CPU do you have?

@ propergol
So with the GOP driver version 1039, in UEFI mode, there is a display on the screen?

@ Pacman
If I understand correctly, then you GOP 1042 work?
And what version of the GOP was in the original BIOS?

propergol has ASRock Z170M Extreme4 so GOP 9.0.1025
Pacman has ASRock Z170 Extreme6 so GOP 9.0.1029

ASRock’s module updating attitude is impressive, so far behind…

@ SoniX

Yes, with i7-6700K, so i was curious if propergol might have Another CPU, if maybe some bug.

@ propergol…so many people are about you…!!!

You feel you are not getting enough attention?

I started this config with a i3-6100T (35W-3.2GHz) but ended with i3-6100 (51W-3.7GHz) figuring that the T version was just lowest rated part of the Intel wafer and NOT a better CPU with strong undervolting.
After undervolting the i3-6100 has lower idle voltage that my "old" T version (0.640V rather than 0.672) and needs only 1.056V @ 3.7GHz vs 1.005V @ 3.2Ghz.

The goal is to achive the less W as possible while remaining stable h24x365days.
Ram 1.2V and -50mV for the IGPU.

No : I need to enable CSM in order to have screen ON so its not "pure" UEFI.
1039 or 1042 result are the same.

I wonder why is not working GOP 1039 and 1042. I have a suspicion of VBT file, everything is possible.

@propergol
Thank you for the tests. :slight_smile:
In the attached file the full mod BIOS, except video section.

@Fernando
I think that the tests on flashing mod BIOS for Asrok were successful. Working method.

Does this mean, that the upper part of >this< post is obsolete and that I can re-add a link to >this< guide into the start post of >this< thread?
If yes, I would like to move your guide and the related posts about how to flash a modded ASRock AMI Aptio V UEFI BIOS from the UBU thread into >this< one. Do you agree?

the update correct??

AFAIK yes!
Please look into >this< post written by SoniX in October 2015.

Edit by pluto: Also, THIS.

Hello,
Am trying to update a Dell Bios from N5110 but your tool doesn’t recognize it as an ami aptio bios
File BIOS is not AMI Aptio!

@Demetris :
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!
Since you have posted your request into a thread, which has not been designed for discussions about the UBU tool, I have moved your post and the related answers into the correct thread.
I hope, that this is ok for you.
