The tool is proper, there’s the official version and a community mod which enables support for Aptio IV and not just V. The size is large because AMI included python bytecode of the EDK2 source code.
Hello,
To make things more clear, what is the CRC’s of the orignal untouched MMTool v5.02.0024 clean version and the modded community version (which enables support for Aptio IV and not just V) ?
Thanks
@karakarga :
Its actually 5.02 not 5.2 and at @plutomaniac thank you for the clarification.

Is it NDA version of MMTool or do we actually get MMTool with new UBU tool 1.70.x?
@davidm71 :
The externally valid versions of the AMI Aptio V MMTools are 5.0.0.7 (old version) and 5.2.0.24 (new version). You can easily verify it by doing a right-click onto the related MMTool.exe file and choose the options “Properties” > “Details”.
Look here:
Interesting additional detail: Both versions are described by AMI as being in BETA development stage.
@ Fernando
Funny confusion in the version. In “Properties” one value 5.2.0.24, and “About” - 5.02.0024.
The new version, unlike the old one, works correctly with GUID A032… and similar ones.
Also works with fixed volumes, but it still swears.
Well the one I found at Overclockers.Ru on the Ubu thread says 5.02 in the Copyright area inside a hex editor. I presume thats the correct one?
@davidm71 :
As I already have written, 5.2.0.24 is the externally used version number (5 is the platform, 5.2 is the development branch, the rest is the Build number).
No matter how hard I try to search, I am unable to find mmtool 5.2.0.24. Would be nice to try, since version 5.0.0.7 always get stuck when try to update some modules.
@Morku :
Here is a tip: Do a Google search for “MMTool 5.02.0024” and you will find a link to the requested tool.
Note: The original tool is only usable with AMI Aptio V BIOSes.
Fernando has said that we should use MMTool 4.50.0.23 instead of MMTool 5.0.0.7 with UBU when using a Aptio IV board.
When I try, it will display incorrect version error. So I ran it using 5.0.0.7. I am using UBU_v1_69_11_fix
It seems to have completed without errors using the MMTool 5.0.0.7. Should I flash this modded Aptio IV bios? What is the difference?
If not, how do I force the program to accept the older MMTool?
?should I try to “patch” MMTool 5.0.0.7 that was offered earlier or try to “REM” the lines out of UBU.bat (SoniX)
reading #3440, Fernando seems to suggests it is okay to use MMTool 5.0.0.7 with an Aptio 4 board. Thanks…
For Aptio 4 optimal MMT 5.0.0.7 (“About” as 5.00.0007)
For Aptio V optimal MMT 5.2.0.24 (“About” as 5.02.0024)
The old MMTool v4.50.0.23 has been designed just for AMI Aptio IV BIOSes, whereas the MMTool v5.0.0.7 has been designed for AMI Aptio V BIOSes, but supports AMI Aptio IV BIOSes as well. The UBU tool needs an MMTool, which is able to work with both Aptio variants (IV and V). That is why the MMTool v4.50.0.23 cannot be used with the UBU tool. If you try it nevertheless, you will get an error message.
The next UBU tool version will probably require the AMI Aptio MMTool v5.2.0.24 and will still be able to modify AMI Aptio IV and V BIOSes.
suggestion:
as different versions of MMTool work better with different Aptio versions, will it be possible to use both in UBU?
I mean renaming “MMTool” into “MMToolx4” (5.00 or even 4.xx) and “MMToolx5” (5.02) and let the batch file pick up the right one according to Aptio version?
obviously if a version works perfectly for both will be much better
I have the 5.0.0.7 version, but for the life of me I can only find the 5.0.0.7 version online
can any pm me or something with a link to the 5.2.0.24 version please and thank you!
@f3bandit : if I google “MMTool 5.02.0024”, the first result points me to a page with the download link.
SoniX,
in new UEFI BIOS Updater v1.69.12 ,should include latest MC Extractor v1.14.1 r55…
